One of my daughters rolled over the other day while doing some tummy time, so i am not swaddling her with her arms in just incase she starts rolling in her crib...so for the pasdt 2 nights of her sleeping unsawddled she has been up constantly flailing her arms around...she usually is a good sleeper(9 pm-5:30am) now i feel like she is regressing due to me unswaddling her...Anyone else experience this? Have any tips??
I would suggest unswaddling only 1 arm to start out with. That way she could push herself over if she rolled but might still like the security of one arm swaddled.
I agree with Aimee, try starting with one arm & once she gets accustomed to that, take out the other one.
Great topic. I have the same issue with my babies, thay seem to want to be unswaddled but when I do they turn into newborn again in terms of sleep and wake up constantly. Great tip about only swaddling with one arm. I will try that!
Oh my gosh, we're going through the same thing. They sleep horrible when they aren't swaddled tight. Love the one arm advice, baby steps My girls never had a problem not being swaddled up tight at this age, must be a twin thing!
does she only need swaddling to fall asleep? I swaddled one of my girls until she was 7 months, but she inevitably got out of it within an hour or so while sleeping, but it didn't matter because by then she was asleep. I just had to re-swaddle her if she woke up for some other reason. You could try not swaddling as tightly so that she can slowly wriggle out, or loosening the swaddle blanket before YOU go to bed. Mine flipped to sleep on her stomach a lot after 5 months and it scared the heck out of me, and the pediatrician told me to flip her back on her back if I could, but seriously, it's not like I could stand over her bed at night to turn her over all the time. I think if one arm is free or the swaddle is loose enough for her to get out, you don't need to worry.
At this age she probably wouldn't be able to roll over while swaddled, so I'd keep swaddling... plus even if she rolled from tummy to back, it might be a while still before she can roll from back to tummy.
