Um, TMI warning, what to do with hemroids?

Hi there, I know this is TMI for a lot of people but if I can't ask my sister twin moms who can I ask? : ) I googled it but that was overwhelming, and I searched the forum but since I'm not the only one who can't spell it I didn't find anything.
My dr put me on iron supplements which, of course, made me constipated. Ugh. So now I have developed a BIG ol' hemroid that is really uncomfortable and sometimes painful. I had some 'roids with my first pregnancy, in fact they were the worst part about the whole pregancy, labor, delivery and recovery, but they weren't like this! I know to use witch hazel, tucks pads, sitz baths, sit on a donut, but this one is um, huge.
So, I keep seeing recommendations to 'push it back in'. Is that really what I want to do? Sounds scary but if it will feel better I'll do it! Won't it just come out again when I have a bm?
Well, thanks for reading, and I know that if this is the worst thing that goes on for this pregnancy, I'm lucky but it sucks anyway!

Sounds weird but that is what i was told to do also, push on it in the shower, it hurts but it does help. This was also my hardest part of recovery from my pregnancy. [IMG] I Feel for you [IMG]

I don't mean to sound gloom and doom, I'll just share my experience. With my first preg I was super constipated and I got THREE GRAPES down there. I tried everything, including pushing them back in! The worst was when one ruptured during a BM and the toilet was a pool of blood! I know TMI! Honestly, I think our increased blood volume and blood pooling down there when we're pregnant makes it near impossible to shrink them during pregnancy. Best advice I can offer is take stool softener (Colace is generally accepted as safe during pregnancy) to cut back on the constipation and keep Tucks pads folded and wedged down there whenever you can (I know TMI again!). You can push them in, it will help temporarily, but yes, when you strain they come back out.

Hang in there! I'm so sorry--I feel your pain it was the worst part of my first pregnancy and post delivery recover!

I had the worst roids with my ds...they actually turned into anal fissures which is a whole other ball of wax. I've felt really lucky that I had avoided them this pregnancy up until recently when I had to start taking an iron supplement. Just like you I became constipated overnight! The roids were back in a flash. so far, making sure I take stool softener everyday (and kind of a lot of it....2 pills 2x a day) has kept me in balance, and they seem to be shrinking. Everything else you mentioned definitely helps...but for me the stool softener is the key. They are such a pain. Hope you find relief soon!

Thanks for the replies, ladies. I bought some fiber pills, colace and stocked up on tucks! I feel better knowing others have experienced the same (and worse, it sounds like!) Things are feeling better today, thank god. We'll just take it one day at a time!
