So I haven't had my technical first prenatal yet, Docs on holidays I think Im about 9 weeks my appointment is in a week but when do you usually get an ultrasound, with the twins we had one at 7 weeks because he thought it might be twins because of the hormone level when I got my blood work was through the roof, Im just curious waiting is so hard! Im going to ask him at my appointment, im just wondering if its twins again, I feel exactly the same, But I had never been preg before so I dont know lol

unless there's a reason to do one earlier, the first standard one is usually between 18 - 20 weeks. you also have the option of having one between 11 - 13 weeks (i believe) for CVS testing.

I guess it depends on your practitioner. I got dating u/s with the twins because they didn't believe my dates (I was exactly right). With Becca we had been working with an OB for low progesterone issues so he gave me an u/s at 8 weeks to confirm the pregnancy was "in the uterus". He also gave me one at 12 weeks as a reassurance all was OK in there. He was great. With Becca the midwife gave me a quick sneak peak at 8 weeks to do a headcount with my history of twins (eventhough mine are identical. My sister does have a set of fraternal).

I also think it depends on your practitioner. With dd (1st pregnancy) they did an ultrasound at our first appointment where we saw the little heart flutter  But with the twins we had different insurance so we found a new doc, who wasn't going to give me an u/s at the first appointment until I pushed the subject (My intuition told me it was twins) I did not care for my last doctor, so with this one I got some recommendations from friends and made my first appointment. They said they routinely see patients between 8-10 weeks for the first appointment, and the appointment starts with an u/s. I'm so excited to get a peek so soon!! (But I don't have the same feeling about it being twins again...and that's ok with me :) )

I agree w/ pp about it depending on the practitioner. When I found out I was pg I asked my dr. if I could get an u/s due to my previous history w/ m/c and my twin pg. I was able to get one at 7 weeks to see how many there were. Only one! Maybe just ask your dr ... the worst thing he/she could say is no. Otherwise my dr. only "allows" one at 21 weeks. Waiting is the hardest part! Good luck and hope you can get in for a sneak peek!!!
