We had an ultrasound a week ago at 30wk6 days (I have another today) Baby A was 3#3oz and baby B was 3#4oz. In your experience ladies did the ultrasound measure smaller or bigger once the babies were born? I know the weights are an estimate but wondering if the weights are usually estimated small or big?

Ours were big. O was supposed to be around 6lbs at 37 weeks. I gave birth 5 days later and he was 5lbs 7oz. S was supposed to be 6lbs, too, and he was only 6lbs 1oz. 1 oz in 5 days? The measurement was probably off.

Nathaniel was estimated at 5lbs, and he was 6lbs 9oz. William was estimated at 5lbs, and he was 5lbs 2 oz

A week before I had our girls the u/s showed them weighing only about 3 lbs a piece. The next week (35 weeks and 6 days) when I had them they weighted 5 lbs 9.5 oz and 5 lbs. 12 oz. Way off for us. They were thought to have growth issues as well. A doctor had to be present at every u/s.

Mine were right on the money, they were estimated at 6 lbs and 6 1/2 lbs, and that's what they were.

I don't remember the earlier estimates, but my last u/s was at 35 weeks and they measured each baby at 7 lbs. I gave birth almost 2 weeks later and they were 6 lbs and 5 lbs 10 oz. I think it just gets really hard to see in there.

Mine ran small, but the tech insisted small people have small babies, and I already knew big babies run in my family. They scanned me while I was in labor with DS1 (this was nearly 19 yrs ago, so presumably they are more accurate now). They told me about 7.5 lbs. He was 9.5 lbs.

We have been curious about the same thing. We had our last u/s last week at 36 1/2 weeks and they were each estimated at 7 1/2 lbs each. We are delivering on Friday and just wondering how much bigger they could possibly get, assuming that the u/s weights are accurate or at least close.

I don't remember weight estimates with the twins. But with my oldest ds I was told at 32 weeks that he was measuring huge (especially his head) and around the 5-6lb mark at that time. He was born at 36 weeks weighing 6lb5oz so I think it was really off for me.

The ultrasound measurements were bigger than my girls actually were.

I do think that it could go either way and depends more on the particular technician doing the measuring than anything. Ours were really close, like an ounce or 2 either way.

I had another u/s today and baby A weighed 4# 4oz which means she gained 1 pound in 1 week. Baby B weighs 3# 11 oz which means he only gained 7oz in 1 week. Dr. is not concerned and said their growth is good. This was the same tech who did our 28 week growth. At 28 weeks she got them both at 2# 8oz each. I just want good sized babies!

At my last ultrasound, A was 6 lbs. 10 oz. and B was 6 lbs. 12 oz. At birth, four days later, A was 5 lbs. 0 oz. and B was 6 lbs. 11 oz. They had tracked within an ounce or two of each other the entire time with the exception of one ultrasound which showed A smaller than B, but was deemed to be an anomaly. My twins are mono-di.

My twins are di/di b/g so I wonder if differences in ultrasound differences also have something to do with the kind of twin they are?

Eli was almost dead on--off by like 3-4 ounces. Mark was a pound lighter than the estimate, and my singleton was supposed to be around 8lbs, and she was 9lbs3oz.

My u/s weights were bigger than my babies were born (well the twins anyway). I had an u/s the day before my DS was born and they said he was a pound bigger than what he was when he was born, the next day. With my singleton I only got one at 20w and then again at 30w since she was measuring big.

They told us a couple of days before they were born that baby A was in the 4 pound range and baby B was in the 7 pound range. I had been on bedrest for 10 weeks because of baby A's smallness and low fluid level and lethargy. When they were born they were baby A 6.9 and baby B 6.8. She was actually a tiny bit heavier than her sister! and I will also tell you that baby A was lethargic in the womb, they had to wake her with the buzzer at every one of my last few ultrasounds. Baby B was very active - that is just how they are now at 3yrs old! Addison (babyA) is laid back and goes with the flow - For Ava(baby B) there is NO flow! Also we thought that Addison would surely be born with Ava's footprint on her head At every ultrasound it was like Ava could not keep her foot off of Addison's head and it was like she tried to touch Addison with her foot no matter how they were positioned (Iknow she didn't have much choice but it was different than being squished) That is the way Ava is now too - she LOVES to be right next to Addison. I just asked them what they are thankful for and Ava said "for yaya" (yaya is what she has ALWAYS called Addison we do not know why LOL!) Addison said "for Christmas presents". looking back on it their personalities in the womb are pretty close to their personalities now!

My estimates were low, especially for Baby A who ended up being the bigger of the 2. They said she was so low in my pelvis they had a hard time getting an acurate head measurement which is why she seemed smaller. They were estimated at just over 5lbs a week before their birth and ended up 6lbs 8oz (A) and 6lbs 4oz (B).
