We got our bloodwork back and everything looks great (it's definitely on the high side, but we all know that doesn't mean much). I figured they'd want me in for an u/s around 7 weeks and was prepared for another TWW, but to my surprise they said they would like to see me on Friday. I'll be about 5w2d. I know it's super early and we won't be able to see heartbeats yet, but what should we see? Yolk sacs? (And yes, I do realize I am using plural - habit I guess!)

I'm a bundle of nerves. We had a m/c in April, so I'm just hoping all looks good and there's a sticky bean or two in there!

You'll probably see the sac(s) and maybe a fetal pole.

    Thanks!

Ooo Katie - How exciting! I can't wait to see! Did you get any betas done? My doubling time with mine was 22 hours from 12dpo to 14dpo and was really high (a lot quicker than with the boys even!) And when I asked my nurse what we might see at 5 weeks she said "Maybe 2 heartbeats." LOL! I know it's a bit early for heartbeats though.

Kim, if you have another set you might just hold a record! ;) I don't know what you'd see though- our first ultrasound was around 7 weeks.

I love that you speak in plurals! I do the same. :)

And we're left with more questions... Ha! We saw one beautiful gest. sac (no fetal pole or yolk sac yet) and they did more bloodwork. The nurse said with my betas up as high as they are (9k @ 22dpo) they should have seen a heartbeat. So we're all thinking that there's one that might be a few days younger that we can't see on u/s yet so they want me back in a few days to check again and either see a 2nd baby or a more developed baby. Who knows. For now we're celebrating one beautiful baby. :)

Mine were high, too, so they did more bloodwork and 4 ultrasounds...still just one! Every time I have an ultrasound I expect them to find another one! Good luck to you, I can't wait to hear the news!!!!!!

Thanks girls! I'm kinda hoping it just stays one (of course we'd be thrilled with 1 again) because it would be a MUCH easier pregnancy. I'm on bedrest from 20 weeks on with twins, so a singleton pregnancy would be really nice this time with the little boys running around.

Tara - Do you remember what your betas were? I'm always curious to hear! Were your girls early with TTTS? Thankfully the boys were di/di ID, so we didn't have to worry about that.

Pam - Ah, it's not so hard. I think it sounds a lot harder than it is. We were so shocked to see 2 the 2nd time so I think it will take a while to sink in if it is truly just a singleton!

Had another u/s today and there's still just one! They think another one had started to develop but didn't and I'm ok with that. This is going to be easy! I'm really looking forward to a singleton to round everything out.

I wasn't sure I wanted to update this but just in case someone is searching in the future I figured I would. It turned out we were pg with our 3rd set - fraternals. We saw at our 7 week u/s that there was 1 beautiful baby measuring right on and the tech said she could clearly see evidence of a 2nd baby, but we did lose him/her early on. She showed us where the other baby came from with the 2nd luteal cyst, which is why we knew they were fraternal. I was sad a bit at first, but happy about the one remaining babe. We had suspected that anyway, but it was odd to know for sure that's what happened. So those high betas were twin betas after all.

I am sorry for the loss of your little one but thrilled the other baby is hanging around! I don't remember what my betas were but they were high enough that they repeated my blood draws a few times and did 4 ultrasounds very early. My girls were born early from TTTS, at 35 weeks. They were going to take them at 28 weeks but luckily the 3 amniotic fluid drains I had kept everything safe until 35 weeks. Congrats again!
