I took the girls to their 1 year check yesterday and Addison has ANOTHER ear infection!! this is her 5th. she has no fever but just "looks" like she feels bad - and she has not gained ANYTHING! 14.6 pounds is all she weighs! it upset me so bad - this child eats everything somedays and wants not much others which I guess is typical for some kids but she is not even on the growth chart! and now!! what if she has to have tubes put un her ears?? I am a nervous wreck!! our ENT appt is Friday at 11:40 !! I am just not convinced that her ears are her problem - DH says she looks fine to him but to me she hasn't looked good since late November. my cousin is a PA at a nearby hospital ER -I want to take her there right now - but DH says no and the pedi yesterday said she looks fine to him (but he doesn't know her and DH doesn't notice anything half the time!) I know ear pain is awful and can drag you down but she looks bad all the time to me now - pale, puffy eyes, and just not as spunky as Ava is?? mother's intuition or paranoid worry wart?

I would say if you have a gut feeling that something is wrong then take her to the hospital to do tests. It's better to be safe then sorry, and if everything is okay, then you can just be a worried wart! :hug99: I'm sorry that she's having these issues and I hope that they all get straigtened out soon. :love0028:

:hug99: I'm sorry she's not doing well. I hope the ENT can help. Is she breathing okay? I would say watch her and see how she's doing, if she doesn't improve, taker her in.

If it's any consolation.....Meghan weighed about 16 lbs at 1 year and only 21 at 2. She's probably about 23 lbs now.

I am an organizer for the twins play group in my hometown. My friend's twins (the girl) has trouble sleeping through the night for the longest time and she had a couple of ear infections before turning "1". Therefore they are now in process of looking for an ENT and will need to put tube in her ears. I am hoping once they fix her that she will sleep so much better?

I feel very badly for you! Please don't wait (follow your mothering instinct because I learned a lesson few months ago when my husband told me NOT to worry but I was right all this time. I will instruct to tell my husband what's going on with our kids but I'd tell him the kids went to the DR and etc. Because he work every day and has no clue whatsoever on daily feeding, napping, or playing. Please get 2nd opinion doctor as well! We all will be praying for your little girl to PULL through whatever problem she is having. :hug99:

HI -- It's common for kids with ear infection issues and weight gain issues to have dairy and or soy protein intolerance -- which is not an allergy -- but something they could outgrow. THe only way to test it is to remove all dairy (even in processed foods) for 2 to 3 weeks. I'd discuss this with my Dr -- My sons were dairy intolerant - so muchchanged for the better when I went dairy/soy free while breastfeeding. Now at 17 months, one is still intolerant the other eats any dairy he wants.

We do not give them cow's milk to drink -- I give them yogurt shakes to provide calcium -- our pedi is very supportive of this.

I'd definitely do some research on why your daughter may be getting these ear infections - it's soooo common for a dairy intolerance to be missed

Heather, you know your children. If you think she looks off, I say follow your gut especially since you have a medical proffesional in the family.

Norah has been skirting the bottom of the cart since 3 months old and Nevan is only doing slightly better. :hug99:

We are dealing with ear problems right now with Elizabeth. She has had 2 rounds of antibiotics this last time and the fluid/infection still won't clear, so she is getting tubes put in in two weeks. I'm actually happy about it b/c we went through the same thing with Catherine and the tubes were like a miracle! She felt better, she could hear better, she ate and slept better, etc. I'm hoping for the same for Elizabeth. It may be that she has fluid that just won't clear and that can make them miserable :( I hope you can get an answer soon!

I just wanted to tell you that my DD1 had ear infections from 6 months - 1 year. Non stop. They didnt put tubes in her ear, but were about too..
Im sorry you are worried, but if you feel that taking her to the ER for monitoring then you should. Anything for ease of mind.. ;)

I'm sorry your little one isn't feeling good. :hug99: Go with your mommy instinct and have your relative check her out, it couldn't hurt, and at the least would make you feel better that you had done everything you could. Keep us posted.
