I've been in the hospital since Friday night monitoring for decelerations in Baby B's heart rate and for IUGR reversal of blood flow. All weekend long they could not see any decelerations at all in either baby. Today I had my doplar u/s with the specialist and he is now seeing intermittent reversal of blood flow in Baby B's umbilical cord. The specialist has admitted he's baffled and can't figure out why this is happening because; except for the slow growth (exactly one pound smaller than his brother), the blood flow issues, and one time documented moment of decelerated hear rate, there is no other indicator of problems. He's as feisty and active and developed as his twin.

Their birth seems eminent. I've had one round of steroids over 3 weeks ago, and they just gave me the start of the next round of steroids. They are increasing the NST monitoring and the specialist will be back tomorrow morning for a follow up doplar u/s. We are hoping for 48 more hours. But they may be delivered tomorrow... on my 35th birthday...

Now the tears have started, and there's no damn tissues in this room. Thank goodness my pajama sleeves were designed to be extra snot absorbent.

I am so sorry to hear that you and your little ones are going through this. I am glad that they started the steroid shots as from what I have read on this board the steroid shots help so much. I don't have any personal experience about what you are going through but I wanted to send my support your way. Remember..you are in the right place and everyone is being monitored closely. Take it day by day, hour by hour. Focus on the many success stories out there. Easier said then done, I know, but there are A LOT of success stories of twins and single babies being born at this time.
    Take care!
