This is miserable! I remember spending the last bit of my twin pregnancy in the recliner b/c of the heartburn/reflux but it seems like it has started even earlier this time around. I ate lasagna last night for dinner and it was almost midnight before I could get to sleep thanks to the heartburn. Tonight the ketchup I was dipping my fries in started it up again and now I'm in so much pain! It's awful! Anyone else want to whine with me?
I'm betting it's the acid in the tomato products...you did mention lasagne (red sauce) and ketchup. I would try to stear clear of those and see if that helps you out at all. I have had a few bouts of it, but not too bad. With the twins, it got BAD around 27 weeks when I was put on bedrest b/c I was laying down all the time. I remember just bottles and bottles of Maloxx...I should've bought stock in the company.
Zantac helped me tremendously. I took it religiously. I'm sure I will have it this time too...I'm stocking up on the Zantac in anticipation.
I've experienced this lovely symptom a few times at just over 19 weeks, so I'm happy to join your vent! It stinks. I've noticed that I can't lay down too soon after eating or that really makes it flare up. Isn't pregnancy a total body experience?
I drink half and half straight from the container during my pregnancies to help with the heartburn. Everyone knows not to touch the half and half in my house.
I hate the heartburn/reflux too. With Peyton, it was so bad, that I would wake up vomit/acid in my throat at night. Dr gave me a script for Zantac 150. It hasn't gotten that bad this time yet, but am ready to ask for Zantac again before it gets that bad.
I've had it with all three of my pgs. The twin pg was by far the worst. I could hardly eat anything my whole second trimester b/c from the first bite in the morning I'd be feeling h.b. This pg was off and on...I go through phases. But one great non-medicine remedy for me has been whole milk or vanilla ice cream. The fat in them really helps quiet down the acid in your stomach. Don't do chocolate ice cream though...the chocolate irritates it again!
I have only had 2 days where the HB was just so unberable. I wanted bean burritos with hot sauce and it didnt hit me until 8 hours later with HB and it last for 2 days. I threw out all my hot sauce I will have to wait until I am done breastfeeding to be able to eat it again. How sad for me I love LOVE hot sauce. I am prepared to ask the DR for HB medicine, i had it so bad with my girls I am preparing for it again.
Heartburn was definitely the worst thing for me when I was preggo, I empathize with you. Hopefully it gets better soon!
