Im reading over a lot of the posts the past few days and growth scan problems some are having. First, hugs and prayers to those of you who are really facing hardships right now. I had an u/s today. So far they have both been right at the 60th percentile. Only ever just an ounce off of eachother. They have both been doing awsome, tell today. Baby B gained over 2 lbs this last month and went up to the 68th percent. Baby A gained only about 1 lb over the last month and dropped from the 60th to the 48th percentile. Putting an 18 percent difference between them. I know at 20 percent differences you start to worry, but she is still in a decent growth I would guess. You, know I can't help but worry about her a bit now. What do you think? So, my question- Do you think what you eat can make that big of difference? Like if I started eating a little more healthy fats and protiens do you think it would help her or just put on unneccesary weight for me?
First Id like to say sorry you are going through this. I am a worrier too so I would worry too if I was in your shoes (not to say u should be worried but its a natural instinct in some of us to worry needlessly until they are in our arms..and then we would worry as they grow up!!) anyway, I dont know if eating fattening foods will help but in my situation my babies were at 2.5lbs a 26 weeks. I have been trying to eat fattening things just because i was so worried about delivering early as I was already dilated to 1 and 70% effaced so early on. By 33 weeks they grew to 5.5lbs and 5 lbs each! Now I dont know if they are just prone to being big but I thought that that was a good weight gain and pretty bigits for 33 weeks along when I look at those who delivered and their weights. I would say it couldnt hurt, yes you may gain weight ofcourse but I think its better for them to be bigger as I can always go on a diet when they come! its worth it and quite fun to eat anything you want!
Molly, I can't remember, are your twins monochorionic or dichorionic? If they are di/di, then it would be perfectly normal for them to be on different growth curves. Also, you need to take into consideration more than just the growth difference. They should also be looking at the fluid levels and bladder function of both babies. I know it's hard not to worry, but I always told myself that I chose a great medical team and if they were not concerned, then I would not freak out. After all, they see this every day, so they know what's in the "norm" and what's not. Hugs to you and your little ones. Eat what you want and enjoy feeling them grow!
Also are they both girls or boy and girl? i just was googling weights for twins and they said boys will be bigger in weight than girls. could be another reason.
Sorry, yes the bigger one baby b is a Boy and the smaller one baby a is a Girl. One other VERY dissappointing bit of news is that I see my v-birth slipping away from me. On top of no help now I will have no help AND be recovering from a c-section. Just a bumber day. And Dallasm you brought up the cervix and all that good stuff lol, so I'll add my cervix is still long and closed. nothin goin on there. Thanks ladies.
