I have kind of a silly question because had I paid attention I could have answered it myself. Anyways, when you are looking at an ultrasound picture of the two babies together how can you tell which one is on your left side and which is on your right. Should I flip it around away from me and that shows which the position of the babies or is the baby on the left side of the picture on my left side, etc. I don't know why this is so confusing but for some reason I just can't figure it out. :FIFblush:

It is usually a and b and A tends to be the one lower in the belly. At least that was what I was told. But one of my guys was sitting on my bladder and the other was transvers and had his bum under my ribs most of the time

In my pictures I had my dr show me where my cervix was and that was on the right side of the picture, so thats they way I would try to figure who is who. Worked earlier in the pg, I knew who was A bc of who was on the bottom and baby b was transverse so that was easy. I can try to get my u/s pics and I will label where he said my cervix was if that helps....not sure how far along you are so don't know if that will help?

I don't think I did a good job of explaining what I meant. They have already labeled the babies A & B. When I am looking at the picture B is on the left and A is on the right. How do I tell where they are located on the inside? Is the u/s like looking in a mirror? Or have the images been transferred in such a way that that I would have to turn the picture away from me and B is on the right and A is on the left. It's all very confusing...I'm sorry. The only reason I am asking is because the left one is kicking already, so I am just curious who it is I am feeling.

Like a pp said, A is always the one closest to the cervix. If A is on the right side of your picture then your cervix is to the right of that. So essentially the tech was taking the picture from the right side, making B on top (left) and A on bottom (right). Make sense? Lol.

And FWIW, to make things even more confusing, A and B may change throughout the pg. A is always closest to the cervix :)

How can they keep track of each babies growth if they keep re-lettering them based on their position?

I wondered the same thing! Our "Baby A" has always measured a couple days ahead and has always been the closest to my cervix. At our 18 week u/s I finally asked the tech where each one was, their heads, feet, etc. and which side they were on. It's funny, up until that point I thought B was on top of A, but it turns they were side by side. I don't know if the pictures are a mirror image or not, I would just ask your tech...if you can wait that long :)

I asked that same question - what if A and B switch such that B is closer to the cervix. The tech said that sometimes they switch - but not often. I'm not sure if mine have ever switched because they have always been so close is size to each other.

my babies switched toward the end of my pregnancy.weird I know. But the tech could tell because one was always 2 oz bigger and 1/2 inch longer than the other.

My babies switched as of my last u/s. Totally was confusing the heck out of me, since B was now A, and visa versa. I used to stay that "Baby B" was the active one, but now they are "Baby A"! Oh well
