If you have given Tylenol or Motrin for teething pain at night and they wake up still in pain (crying and screaming) can you give teething tablets to help take the edge off before the other medication has worn off?

CIO has gone down the drain the past two nights.....top two teeth are working their way in slowly but surely. :D

:hug99: You will get them back on track, don't worry!

As far as giving the teething tabs with the Tylenol or Motrin, I think it's ok because the tabs are herbs and don't have any Tylenol or Motrin in the ingredients. I have not had much luck with the teething tabs so I am not really sure.

The other night I gave Seamus 3 tablests and tylenol when we woke up scraming. An hour later he woke again and I gave him 2 more tablets. The tablets really soothe him. I also give an ounce or 2 of water after giving the tablets. They are 100% natural. The bottle says if the child is restless or wakeful, you can give 2 tablets every hour.

Okay that is what I thought......Jacob and Noah have both been way out of sorts with this teething starting again. The tablets seem to calm them down quickly. Once Noah had Tylenol at 11:30pm (after waking up twice crying uncontrollably) he slept through to 6:15.

Jacob went until 1:30 and 3:30 and had his episode and was given medicine and water. But, due to my exhaustion, we fell asleep together in the chair until 6:00.......I hope he does not count on that starting to be the trend. ;)

I'm glad the tablets help you - the only thing they did was make both of mine throw up - I usually give Tylenol at bed time and if they wake up more than 4 hours later and are inconsolable I'll give it again...

    HI,

I think Motrin is not quite approved for use in kiddos under 1 yr or at certain weights... so Tylenol is better if you have to use it.

Motrin is OK after 6 months or a certain weight. My pedi recommends it for teething over tylenol. I'm curious to see if the teething tabs work, maybe I'll get some tomorrow. We're also going through the teething stage.

How much tylenol do you give? On the box it doesn't give a dose for under 2 years

After 6 months, Motrin is okay. Call the pedi for dosage instructions, though. It's more weight-based than age.

We give Motrin at night since you give it every 6-8 hours. It just lasts longer and seems to deal with the pain better.

I give teething tablets on top of Motrin/Tylenol if pain doesn't seem to be subsiding, but I only give 2 every 3-4 hours if needed.

The dosage per weight is on the Motrin box....if you know their current weight it makes it easy.

You'll want to call your pedi to get dosage. And they also make children's tylenol and infant's tylenol (same for Motrin, too.)

I just happened to be looking at the Hyland's website & this is what they say:

Hyland's offers a solution based on a radically different approach. Hyland's soft-dissolving Teething Tablets use microdoses of natural medicines that support dentition and ease pain. Because they are natural and contain only small doses of medicine, Hyland's Teething Tablets carry no risk of overdose or side effects. In fact, they can be used safely with other pain medicines.

If your box does not give a dose for under 2 years old...then you might have picked up the 'childrens' Tylonel, not the Infant tylonel??
You might want to check just to make sure, as they are different, and require different doses.
Always go by weight, not age, unless you dont know the weight.
