... at this time, I was finishing up dinner with DH and a friend that had come to visit me on bedrest. After dinner, we were relaxing and talking and I put on the contraction monitor (I was on strict bedrest, a contraction monitor 2x day and a terb pump... just to set the scene). I was scheduled for a c-section four days later, so I wasn't really paying too much attention to contractions or the monitor. After I found out that I was having too many contractions per hour, I upped my terb dosage. My friend headed home and DH and I headed for bed. I ended up being on the monitor for about 6 straight hours until the nurse finally told me to head to the hospital. I believed we'd get to the hospital, they'd find out about my scheduled c-section and send me home. Not exactly. At 4am, I was in active labor. At 6am I was being prepped for an emergency c-section. And at 8:44am and 8:46am, my babies were born.

It's hard to remember my life 2 years ago. It's even harder to describe how my life has changed. I just put my babies to bed, in beds, not cribs, and I realized just how quickly time passes. A year ago, I don't think I was quite as nostalgic about their birth day. That first year was all about survival and I was just glad to have made it to that important milestone. This year, though, I'm a bit weepy that another year has passed so quickly. My own mother told me this would happen, but I didn't believe her until just this moment. I'm excited for this year... for all the adventures you can have with 2 two year olds (and an infant)!

Thank you to all my TS friends. I am quite certain that TS has helped me stay sane and keep my sense of humor (not to mention the down and dirty things like helping me figure out when to start solids, how to transition to a sippy cup, how to clean baby puke out of the carpet, etc). Happy birthday (eve) to my babies and to me and my DH. It's been one heck of a ride!

It is so funny that I should find this post. My girls turn 2 on Friday and dh and I were lying in bed last night watching tv and talking about "this time 2 years ago....". It's funny how I can't remember where I put my car keys but I can remember the slightest of details from 2 years ago. It's been such a long......hard.....road. If I had known what it was going to be like, I honestly don't think I would have had the courage to CHOOSE to go through it, but I'm glad I was given the choice. Even now, I am always telling my mom "man, this child rearing stuff is a tough gig...", but then I go in their room at night after they've fallen asleep and listen to them breathing (really loud...Emily snoring....really loud :D ) and I wouldn't trade them for anything....not even for my nice figure I had pre-pregnancy. I feel really blessed to have been chosen to take this on and go through the experience of being a mom of multiples. I feel we're in a realm of our own, raising 2 babies at once. A parent of a singleton or even multiple kids spaced apart can never fully understand nor appreciate what we have gone through and continue to go through. And those of us with nicu graduates/preemies are in an even different realm. Congrats and kudos to us all.

    AND :birthday: to your kiddos!!

Happy Birthday!!! I had to hold back the tears as I was reading your post. I was amazing calm through most of my pregnancy with the twins, yet when I remember back I tend to get emotional. Thanks for your story!
