The Radio Flyer (the red wagon brand) has a cool one, its really easy to handle from the parent handle... The parent handle thing comes off and its just a low rider trike... I think Target has them.
I love them too because they are "old fashion" looking!

I got my two the little radio flyers for Christmas last year thinking they'd be able to ride them and they still can't manage. They are just not coordinated enough. They'll be 3 next month. They go to town on their Big wheels though.

My boys have this trike but it has the parent handle on the back. My mom and dad bought them for their birthday last year and, while I thought they would love them, they haven't been on them more than a dozen times. They just don't seem that interested in them. Now their Gator is a completely different story! [IMG] I think the trikes are too much work for them. With the Gator, they can just sit it on, step on the gas and go. They want nothing to do with that hard pushing-the-pedals kind of work! [IMG] [IMG]

My SIL got the boys those for Christmas. They look very cute. They had so much stuff that we decided to wait untill their second birthday. I can't wait to see them check it out and try to ride it. [IMG]

I got this one for my now 4 yo and they are awful....they look great and the handle is cool, but all the kids in my neighborhood fall on this one. If there is any hill whatsoever the thing will tumble over....VERY topheavy. We wish we would never have bought this. Now, we have a huge hill/driveway so its really hard for them to not fall over on it.
Just thought I would save another parent from buying it...if you have a lot of hills. Otherwise its not that bad...I just personally think there are some better ones out there. We didn't buy anymore bc my son got more into his bike

    Good luck and hth!!

I highly recommend the Kettler trikes My friends have had the radio flyer and had trouble with them tipping. This one is soooo sturdy, and can grow with the child, mine used them for 2 years until they got "big boy" bikes this summer for their 4th birthday.

Diane, I posted the same thing a while back and the responses I got were just as Sharon says:

I was lucky enough that the K team got some new bikes for Christmas and were outgrowing their trikes. I met up with Dianne, and Nolan and Meghan will be riding their trikes this spring/summer (Kettler trikes).

We got the Kettler trikes for the girls 2nd birthday. Kids are going to ride trikes forever especially if they adjust. So I would invest in some really good ones if you are up to it. Our girls had them when they were 2 but it took them almost half a year to actually pedal them. Have fun shopping!

THANK YOU ALL!!! I think I'll be shopping Kettrikes, but WHICH ONE OF THOSE?!!!

I don't think we have the room for big wheels. We need something that will stay on the side walk well. We live on the main street into our neighborhood....(just need the SUPER DUPER YARD TO FENCE IN OUR DRIVE! [IMG] ) [IMG]

Diane, we had the Kettrike Junior--the green and red one on the second page--they have one of the same kind in pink. It is pretty compact, and easy for them to ride.

We have the Kettler Happy and we also purchased the tandem insert so it could turn into a two seater. It is SO CUTE watching Nate and Drew cruise around together on the two seater bike! (Although, they couldn't do it until they were 3, and the pushbar isn't strong enough to steer the two seater...) We also bought the Kettler from One Step ahead. It is also a great trike, but it tends to tip more often than the 'Happy'. I have been very pleased with these trikes. They are easy to adjust, very stable, and easier to pedal and steer than some others my boys have tried.

Thanks everyone!!! I am going with the kettler's!!

    I REALLY appreciate the input!!

I am trying really hard to stay away from the toys etc. that come with all the tiny parts and pieces (little people etc.) this year!! It's overwhelming to keep up with which people go with what set etc. I'm actually sorry I got so much for Christmas because they don't even play with it! So, I'm having the family pitch in together on the trikes and a Children's Museum Membership!! [IMG]

    Thanks again!

I hear you Diane! I way overbought at Christmas too! I'm thinking of trikes for next Christmas (they'll be 2.5). I'm so tired of all the stuff. We are asking family to pitch in for a new big swingset and water table for the back yard for their 2nd birthday in June :)

    Have fun shopping Kettler!

We got the Radio Flyer Fold N Go. It doesn't fold up much, but that is the one we got. They are really cute, and my kids like to ride it around the house for now - until the weather gets better. [IMG]

I love these...ours are pink & purple...my girls rode them around 20 months old.........and now at 3 they can still ride them. Only once did Maya fall and it was inside our new home on the tile but she wasn't wearing her helmet.

I also have a 5 year old and she is tall and she couldn't ride he barbiebig wheel until last year because she cold't reach the pedals. Her first bike is a trek w/training wheels but she loves to ride her sisters fold n go Radio flyer trikes.

I would take your kids to toys r us and let them try out different ones.

    Good Luck and have fun.
