Hey guys! I am new here and I have a quite different situation then probably most of you. I have a Uterine Didelphys - which is basically two uterus' and I have two cervix's. I was already at high risk for preterm labor when we found out we were pregnant. Because I have UD we had an ultrasound done at 5 weeks and we were completely shocked to find out that we were pregnant with twins! YIKES!!! We were so shocked and overwhelmed - yet very excited and feeling blessed! But now I am real nervous about preterm even more. My uterus is half the size of the average uterus - so space wise, it is like an avg. uterus have 4 babies. Scary at times. I was wondering if anyone out there as UD and preg. with twins or has heard of it. I cannot find anything online and I have a feeling I might be very rare.

A lady with UD recently gave birth to twins, one from each uterus. Uteri are really stretchy and you'd be surprised how big they can get.

Good luck to you, I hope your pregnancy is smooth and free of complications.

Congratulations on your pregnancy! I don't know anything about UD, so I can't impart advice, but I hope you find what you are looking for! Many prayers.

No advice, just congrats and welcome to TS. It is a great resource. Maybe you could post your question on the Parents Club forum...you might a get a broader reader base.

I have a uterine anomaly that was repaired via surgery (two surgeries total). There is a Yahoo group called MullerianAnomalies. You might find more stories there.

Congrats on your pg and I am sure that they will be able to manage things well for you. It is amazing what the uterus is capable of. They will monitor you more and it is very likely you will have to have a c-section.

Welcome to TS and all the best for a H&H pg!

    Congratulations and welcome to Twinstuff.

I used to work with a lady that had 2 sets of female parts and had 2 children, she found out later, after her 2nd child, that each of them was in a different uterus when she was pregnant with them. She was a twin herself and they think originally she must have been a triplet and got all of her twin sister's female parts. She had to have a hysterectomy to remove one set though. Her children were not twins though, they were born 3 years apart.

Congratulations! I do know of a woman who has two uterus' and she just had her second child recently (but not twins)...her first one was born out of her 1st (and larger uterus) and the 2nd child was born out of the smaller uterus. The 2nd one was born prematurely but he is doing really well.
I hope that you are doing well and have a happy and healthy pregnancy!

Congratulations!! I had a uterine septum, but not UD. Have you ever visited this Yahoo group?

    http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/MullerianAnomalies/

If not, I highly recommend it. I am sure you'll find someone with a similar experience there. Make sure that you see a peri right away and that you are very, very closely monitored and that your cervix length is measured early and often.

    Good luck and again, congratulations!

I know I've heard of this in the news.... I think I even heard of a woman with two uteri delivering triplets.... one on one side and two on the other. I had never heard of this before, but in the last six months I think I've heard at least half a dozen stories of similar multiples from women with two uteri.

Are your twins in the same uterus or each in their own? I am a member of a bedrest group and my referral this time around only had 1/2 a uterus and is carrying twins in it. She's currently 26 weeks and has had NO problems at all!

That is encouraging. The twins are in my left uterus - and it is crazy but you can feel a slight bump on my left side - weird!
