We went in for our 18wk anatomy check this morning and found out we're having 2 boys! This makes the 5th and 6th grandson on my DH's side, so the hand-me-downs will be awesome. :D They are a really good size (8oz and 9oz) and have solid hb's in the 160's. They did a 3D u/s and Baby B gave us a peace sign. lol

The second surprise was that they're mono/di. Since the first u/s at 6wks, we were under the impression they were di/di. That floored us more than the genders, considering all of the problems that can occur. My peri says one baby has slightly more fluid and wants me to come in every week. I'm also supposed to cut my work hours to 20/wk. My cervix is long and clamped shut  , though, so I don't think it has to do too much with my condition.

Anyways, we're really happy but a bit intimidated at picking out two boys names. All of the family ones are already taken!

How did they figure that out now and not in the beginning? Do you have a very early ultrasound pic to show us?? Just curious.. as they usually can tell earlier and NEVER later on as far as you are so that's a shocker!!

Congratulations. I,too, have identical boys and it's GREAT!!!!

And YES be seen OFTEN by a specialist for sure to monitor for TTTS!! :)

I think what happened is when we got our first u/s with the regular OB at 6wks, they told us that they looked like di/di. The following week we went to the peri for an u/s, plus about 3 more since then. The peri's records indicate that we've been mono/di all along, just that no one told us and we didn't think to ask. We assumed we knew, and they assumed we knew. Apparently there hasn't been "twin peak" and the membrane between the babies is very thin.

Around 18wks is when my peri starts with the weekly monitoring of mono/di's for TTS, so when he brought it up, we were surprised.

That makes MUCH more sense that they DID know all along cuz you can totally tell at a 6 week ultrasound that they're mono di!!

Cool! You're going to have fun!
