I have a couple of questions for you all. I might be having identical twin boys and I was wondering if anyone had any good ideas for telling them apart as newborns? My second question and it maybe already posted but I haven't found it yet. Does anyone have a good chart for keeping stats on your baby after you come home? I was going to make one up but I thought I would ask first. Thanks Ladies! [IMG]

While my girls are ID, Hannah has a cowlick that her sissy doesn't have. That is the only way that we knew. Once they get older then you can tell my their mannerisms/personality.

I didn't have enough time to keep any charts. I am sure someone here has a good resource. Or you can ask your pediatrician.

My dd had identical boys almost 2 months ago and they paint Cameron's big toe nail blue. They started with Cameron blue and Corey green however in a rush it's MUCH easier to just look for any polish at all and not the color! It's working great and come in handy MANY times.

I'm not having identicals but two girls and have been thinking of this myself - I like the nail polish idea! [IMG]

Also - no idea on the charts - wondering where there will be time!?!?!?

Mine are identical but they weren't born looking alike. Position in the womb can affect the way they look, especially head shape. They may also have different skin tones depending on what each of their blood flows have been or if one got a bit jaundiced. Also one of mine got a noticable vaccination point scar, where as the other's healed leaving almost no scar. They also have had totally different expressions since birth. The only time I've ever had a problem is when they are sleeping and then only after they were 9 months old and their heads had grown into the same shape.

I can't help you with telling them apart; I have b/g twins. But if the kind of chart you're looking for is the kind where you keep track of poopy diapers, wet diapers, when they eat, etc, I would call the hospital you're delivering at & ask if they could fax you a copy of theirs. (I'm sure they have one to send home with you.) We got different ones that the hospital gave us, the lactation nurse gave us & our doctor gave us. Some were good & some were ridiculous. My dr wanted all that kind of info, and it was good to have a chart where we just filled in the blanks. No way could I have remembered it all.

I had a chart, but it was on my old computer. I kept it for the first few weels or so, to make sure they were eating and pooping just fine. But they were on a schedule from the time they came home (my luck really, not my own doing). And the charts became useless.

You might want to have a simple spreadsheet to record time of feedings, amount of feedings, and # of wet/poopy diapers. I also wrote down when I pumped, and how much I got. Just was curious to see if it changed.

Thank you everyone. I didn't know the hospital and doctors office supplied them. With my last baby I remember being so tired that I confused feeding times with when I needed my pain meds do to my c-section. I've found I have to write everything down or I tend to forget. [IMG] If I'm this bad now I'm nervous for my family after these guys come. I already feel like my brain cells are being depleated as I speak. Oh well, maybe it will lead to some comic releif. I don't have an answer for your second question but what we did to easily tell our identical girls apart at a glance was we color-coded them. One usually work pink or yellow clothes and the other wore blue, green, & purple. I allowed everyone to always call the girls by name and we have no problem telling who is who in the thousands of photos we have.

I have identical girls and until we could tell them apart we just put polish on the big toe of one of them. Now, Gracie has a freckle on her left arm and Haley does not.

And for the chart, mom bought me a book for the first three months and then I ordered a second. I like it not so much for keeping track of feeding and diapers now, but for a easy way to record their firsts. I don't have to run and grab their baby books, I can just jot it down in this and then I can go back later and get the exact dates.

Anyway, here is the link to the charts I used.

Well, your brain cells ARE being depleted, so that's why you feel that way!

you might want to post this on the First Year Forum as well - I've gotten lots of great input from the Moms who have actually BEEN there.

I know it's overwhelming, especially w/an older child at home; hang in there and try to take one day at a time (easier said than done!)

I was so afraid I wouldn't be able to tell my ID boys apart - but to me they look nothing alike, have totaly different personalities - and there are little distinguishing differences - D has dimples, T has a freckle on his leg, their hair grows differently...T also had surgery at 1 week and has a scar... believe me you will find little ways to distinguish them, and it will be a LOT easier than you think [IMG]
