Two new potty chairs!

I have two red potty chairs that will be delivered today! I have NO INTENTION of starting the potty training process until they are ready...this could be many months from now. But, I thought it would be a good idea to have potty chairs in the bathroom for them to see and maybe sit on.

My question: What is the best way to introduce the new potty chairs to them? Should I have them sit on them with clothes on first? Try it out before bathtime? How did you start with the potty chairs?

    TIA :)

I started mine on the potty chairs before bathtime everyday. Then as they got the hang of it and went more, I added after waking up in the morning. Now Sam is on the potty all day long with few accidents. You just never know if they are ready or not. I did not think mine would be ready at 20 months but Sam surprised me and is doing awesome! It wouldn't hurt to start trying IMO.

I started with leaving the potties out and letting them look them over, sit on them (with clothes on), etc. Then as we got closer to 2 (22 months on), we would practice when waking up, after nap time and before bed, sitting on the potty without diapers on.

We bought a potty chair after Jack's hypospadias surgery (long story; dr. recommended some whacked out aftercare, and we thought we'd need to potty train VERY early). We ended up going with another doctor, so the potty chair sits in the bathroom unless the boys get it out and walk around the house with it.

My guys know the word and sign for "potty" and I let them see me going to the bathroom, but we haven't let them sit on the potty yet so they think it's just a toy. My mother brought up a good point, that when we do go to potty train, they might want to play in the potty after they went. :bad: She might be right, so I think I'm going to put it away until I'm ready to start letting them sit on it.

I guess this doesn't really answer your question, except to say don't do what I do! :p
