When did your child switch from two naps to one nap? Did you encourage this? What were the signs that they were ready? You can vote for more than one choice.

Chloe was more ready to move to one nap, and I pushed Cole along for the ride. It happened around 15/16 months. I still think Cole would prefer to take 2 naps, but for my sanity, I kept them on the same schedule.

Gabe right now is trying to switch. He screams if I try to put him down for a 2nd nap. I wish I could get his one nap to happen later though...he goes down between 10 and 11am. I wish it was after lunch.

I think Nate will take 2 naps forever. He loves to sleep :D

I made the switch at about 19/20 months because Alexandra would scream for most of the 2nd nap. I like to have them on the same schedule so Paige made the switch too and they have been sleeping for 3 hours almost every afternoon now.

Ours did not officially switch until 22 months. From about 18 months to 22 months though there were some days they took 2 naps and some days 1. We let them naturally decide and then finally at about 22 months they were taking just the 1 each day.

We had a transition period but they were mostly on 1 nap at 20 months. I tried to switch them a few times when they were sometimes refusing their afternoon nap but it didn't go well at all. In hindsight, I think they were refusing for other reasons (they cut their 1st molars and canines from 13-16 months which made sleep a bit chaotic in general). Then, I noticed them playing for 30+ minutes before falling asleep for their morning nap and then sleeping longer than they did when they took two naps. This made the afternoon nap tough because they weren't tired yet at the regular time but they were overtired by bedtime. The morning nap gradually got a bit later and we fell into a nice routine. Their nap is currently at 11 (they get up at 6:30) and they'll sleep 1.5-2.5 hours with most days being 2 hours. I've been giving them a heavy morning snack at 10 and then lunch when they get up and that works for us for now.

I put 16 months. I think it was when they weren't showing tired signs so early in the morning and by the time they go up from their first nap, there wasn't time for the next. audrey is the one who needs her sleep more than Clayton. It was when they went to one nap that they went to sleeping longer. (2-3 hour naps are delightful)

Arwen was taking 1 nap a day at around 12.5-13 months. Lorien just started taking one nap a day about 2 weeks ago(so about 14.5 months)

I knew Arwen was ready because she would just play in her crib while her sister was fast asleep and then would start crying (from boredom I imagine) so I'd run up and get her so she didn't wake Lorien. When Lorien was waking up, Arwen was THEN ready for her nap which was late morning. I now put them both down for naps at 10 or 10:30 and they sleep anywhere from 11:30 to 12:30 but usually it's been about an hour and a half nap. Afternoon naps don't work for us as I find they have a much harder time going to bed at night. Our sleep schedule looks like this:

6:00 am wake up (they usually wake up about 5:30 but I get them at 6)

    10:00-11:30 (or 10:30-12pm) nap

    6:30/700pm bed
