my one dd has her two front teeth coming in but I notice there is a pretty nice space between them. is this normal? do they usually come in with a space and then move together? i know it's only their baby teeth and i don't really mind there is a space, i was just wondering if that is how they usually come in.

I think this is normal. My DD had a big space between her two front teeth, but it has decreased the older she gets. She has little spaces between most of her teeth actually.

Both of my girls have this too, but it hasn't gone away yet. Hopefully as more and more teeth come in it will.

Both my boys have a gap as well, but so does DH and his sister did too (she got braces) so I'm fully expecting it to stay

ds had a space between his and at age 2 you can't even notice it anymore... older dd has space between a lot of her teeth...she just has tiny teeth...the dentist told me this is really good b/c she'll have plenty of room when her adult teeth come in...much less likely to have crooked teeth.

I always had one and all my kids have the space too.

Kelly has a space in between her teeth while Kaitlyn's teeth are perfectly straight.

We were told the same thing. Spaces between the teeth allow room for the adult teeth to come in. Crowding will less likely occur. Sometimes people have lower frenums (the gum/skin "tag" that attaches the inner lip to the gums) which doesn't allow the 2 front teeth to ever be close together. In these cases, surgery to remove the frenum may be required (frenectomy). However, this is rare and most likely NOT the case.

Amy has spaces between her front teeth -- Sarah doesn't. Our DCP (not that she's an expert, but she's seen a lot of kids over the year) says it's actually better to have spaces -- less chance of the permanent teeth coming in crooked.
