    Hi,

My little girl takes about 5 ounces each feeding, while my boy takes about 3.5 ounces each feeding. Is it normal to have such a variance between twins? Should I be trying to feed him more? (He falls alseep each feed)

    jenni

    Thanks!

I think you should give them what they will eat.... she might be growing right now and next week he will be and he'll eat more kwim? So....I think that unless he STOPS gaining weight, you are just fine!

Absolutely normal! And when you're dealing with fraternal twins, just remember that they are basically siblings who happened to be in the same place at the same time [IMG]...but they are two, potentially very different, people. I'll bet this eating disparity is the first of MANY disparities you'll see in the coming years!

Hi Jenni - mine were born 10/24 [IMG] I mostly BF but can tell a big difference between the two - Natalie feeds more frequently & for a shorter time. When they do get bottles N has 2.5-3 oz & H has 3.5-4. HTH

Even my identical twins often ate different amounts. As long as he his having the proper amount of wet & poopy diapers everyday you can assume that he is getting what he needs. Have you tried feeding after they wake-up rather than right before a nap? That might help him stay awake a little longer.

My two are the same Jack seems to eat twice as much as Sophie. But i am just leaving them to it as i can not make her eat any more. You can see it in there weight too Jack weighs 17 lb 11 1/2 and Sophie weighs 13 lb 1. But as long as they are gainig weight i wouldnt worry to much. x

my son will eat up to 9 ounces at a time, but my daughter sometimes only 4 ounces at a time. yet by the end of the day, she has mostly caught up as she frustatingly eats many more, smaller meals thru the day. he eats 3-4 big feedings. i too was told that if they are gaining weight, all is fine.

My girls eat differently as well. Iris is happy to bf and have a supplement at night if that- she is growing very nicely this way. Nefeli does not eat enough just bf and if she does not have 2 supplements a day will not put on weight like she should. They eat the same number of feedings and are both offered supplements twice a day but only Nefeli will eat hers both times. Dr. said they have different needs and a different metabolism and there is no point to compare them with each other. We had to find what each needs to gain weight.
