Hi I’m 7 weeks/5days pg with identical twins. I just had my u/s and my RE said they were measuring about 6 weeks/6 days but this was normal for twins at this stage. Their heart beats were 140 and 142. Does this sound ok to everyone? I got pg via IVF and can’t stop being paranoid!

    Thanks,
    Lora

I don't know if I would say it's "normal" to measure small at this stage, but you have some good things going for you. It sounds like they are the same size and both have good heart rates! I've heard stories of women who, at this point, couldn't even see one twin...and then about a week later you could see them by ultrasound and they measured okay. They certainly can catch up.

Hi, I'm not sure if I officially have twins yet, but I went in for an ultrasound at 7 weeks, 3 days and found two gestational sacs measuring 5 weeks, 5 days each. The doctor said that was typical for twins. There were no heartbeats at that point, so we're not sure they're viable yet. Sounds like yours have gotten off to a good strong start! Congratulations! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for my follow up ultrasound on Friday.

I think it is fairly typical for twins and IVF u/s is usually so early that it is hard to predict what they will be measuring in a few weeks time. Congratulations! I live in Mass too and have fraternal twins from IVF! There is another mommy who has identical twin boys from Mass who had an IVF and an egg that split too! How amazing is that???? [IMG]

I think that everthing is fine because there is a five day leeway for implantation. They will grow as their gestational sacs grow. Most importantly you should drink plenty of water because this makes their gestational sacs expand properly. I was told at 6 weeks that my baby b, my girl, had a very small chance of making it because her gestational sac was small and she was 4 days behind in growth. I drank plenty of water for a week and at the next u/s her sac was a lot larger. She now weighs 2 lbs. 10 oz. and is in the 53rd percentile. So I think that if you drink plenty of water, take your prenatal vitamin daily and try to eat protein your next u/s will bring you good news.Best wishes and don't worry too much.

I also used IVF - my babies were different from the beginning -
we transfered 2 embryos and our girls are fraternal -
so they are just different! at 30 weeks we had a big scare when they measured 2 weeks different - I quit work sat around drank LOTS of water and 01-03-07 my princesses were born weighing
    Addison (baby A) - 6pounds 9.5 oz
    Ava (baby B) - 6 pounds 8.4 oz
and Addison was SUPPOSED to be much smaller than her sister!
I remember being so afraid that something was wrong also -
IVF is so amazing! and I can't believe that these little girls are
the little embryos that they gave me a picture of the day of the transfer - it seems like only yesterday that we did the transfer and NOW they are 2 weeks old!!!
    CONGRATULATIONS on your sweet babies!!!!!
