Twins...how long did you hide it?

I am 13 weeks tomorrow with twins and though the scale says I only gained about 3 lbs so far, my normal flat belly is starting to pop out. This is my 2nd pregnancy.

I am a normally small girl (5'4", 122 lbs). I just started a new job on 12/17. So I am thinking that these people that don't know me just think I normally dress in these baggy "hide the bump" clothes or that I am normally a little bigger and trying to hide it.

Anyway, with all these doc appts that always seem to take longer than planned, I am going to have to tell them. But I want to wait as long as possible until they have decided that they like me.

So anyway - for any moms that had their twins in a 2nd time or more pregnancy....when did it get impossible to hide? I know everyone is different, but trying to gauge an average.

We told immediately after we found out. Looking back, there was so much that could have went wrong that I probably should have waited, but I had a new job and this was our first in 8 years, so we found it hard not to tell.

 

I know....I am busting to tell them too! I have to keep reminding myself that everyone knows except work people. We told everyone else on Christmas.

 

I started showing at like 10 weeks, extremely noticable, so a few people guessed I was pregnant before I even said anything.

 

This was me too. I got HUGE .. fast. By the time I was 4 months along I looked like I was 7 months. People guessed I was having twins before I even knew it !

 

This is my second pregnacy and I started showing super fast also. by 12 weeks I looked like I was 6mo along and i'm tall @ 5ft 10in. You should probably think about telling them soon.

 

I told at 12 weeks- I'd been wearing maternity pants for like 4 weeks so it had to come out. Plus my boss had a 1 year old and I was taking over for a woman who'd just had a baby, so they were kind of waiting for me to get pregnant (a very fertile department!)

 

Okay, now I am worried that I am too small!! I know the 24 lbs at 24 weeks rule and at this time I will never make it there! I think I need to get some Boost!

 

I can't hide being pregnant just because of the fact that I get so darn sick so quickly. But as far as my body hiding it... at coming up on 16 weeks everyone still tells me I don't look at all pregnant. I can certainly tell, because I know my belly doesn't usually stick this far out (especially not with my 15 pound LOSS). BUT, I have really big boobs which always hold my shirts out, so I think that's the reason nobody else can tell.

 

I told people right away. I just couldn't help myself! I was getting pretty big fast so I wouldn't have been able to hide it past 12 weeks.

 

No one could tell that I was pregnant with twins until the last trimester. I carried them just like a singleton. However, that last trimester I got huge!

 

I wouldnt wouldnt worry about the weight gain. I got big fast but then didnt really "grow" from 11-16 weeks. I only gained 20lbs and everyone was surprised I was having twins.

 

I told my boss the next day that i found out! I hide for awhile I was pregnant but not for long because I couldn't zip my jeans!!!! I am not huge as I thought, I just gain 7 pounds in 26 weeks. i just have a big belly!!!!!

 

I told my bosses right away because some of my friends' at work knew, and I didn't want them to hear about it accidentally...I too was showing quite a bit, even at 7 weeks!

 

I wouldn't worry that you are too small. Everyone definitely grows differently with each pregnancy -singletons or twins!
I am small like you and some days I get the "omg when are you due? you look ready to pop?" and then I tell them it's twins and they retract their statements and say "wow, you are SO small, there is NO WAY you could be having twins"
And you just want to slap people! lmao!!!

As for work - legally you don't have to tell them yet, correct? So, wear lots of black clothes which are slimming and while they may suspect something - I doubt anyone will come right out and ask you. So wait until you're ready to tell !!!!

And ps. As for the 24 lbs by 24 wkss - my dr told me not even to worry or focus on that. As the babies will take all the nutrients they need from you and grow, leaving you nothing left over lol - so sometimes you will find that you didn't gain much that month, yet babies grew rapidly!
