The boys are 6.5.. love them. We were done, DH had vasectomy 3 years ago. I also carried a second set of twins as a surrogate 3 years ago. We decided 6 months ago that we (I) wanted one more. After weighing the pros and cons.. and again and again.. we went for it. It took 6 months after having reversal, but I just found out I am 4 weeks pg! So, those out there with big twins and a baby-- i need encouragement that this will be FUN?!?! lol
Side Note- I haven't been on in a while-- fun to be back!

My boys were 6.5 when my singleton was born and they have been great! They really help out a lot with him, they like playing with him and entertaining him. They are like two little moms, always worrying and fussing over him.

My twins were 5.5 when my son was born. He was a surprise baby. We both got fixed after that! In many ways, having kids so far apart was easy, because they could help me and help themselves when I was busy with the baby. They could make themselves a sandwich or serve their own cereal, they could get themselves dressed and even take a shower with just a little help adjusting the water temp and checking their heads were throughly rinsed.
They also enjoyed dressing the baby changed wet diapers and fed him. It was like having a living doll for them. Maybe boys won't like that as much.
He was also such an easy baby. I think part of that was because he always had entertainment, watching what they were doing and he was used to going on their schedule right from the start--time to take the girls to school, time to pick up the girls, time to go to the girls ballet class. You know, like he wasn't needy because he couldn't be. I also carried him around in a sling while doing things for them.

Congratulations!!! My twins were only 3.5 when my youngest was born. But my oldest kids were 7, 5 and 3 when Sydney and Sabrina were born. They were fabulous! They helped a lot, they loved the girls and even Adam was great at entertaining them if I could put them in a bouncy seat and needed to get something done. Here's a scrapbook page I did like 6 years ago of my oldest kids holding the girls.

One of my sister in laws has a baby 9 months older than Drex and the other has a baby 6 months older than him. So we started by saying. Maybe you'd like to have a new baby brother or sister like your cousins are having. And things like that before we told them that was going to happen.
They also went along to my big ultrasound and got to see the baby "on TV".

I agree it might be different with boys but my little girls were 2 and 4 when the babies were born and did great. Once they sat up in the walkers (without wheels so they couldn't move) my 4yr old would play babies with the girls. She would set up her plates etc around them and on their trays. The twins loved the attention and watching the big girls. My son was 5 and ask to have them in the room while he played. He would do things to entertain them or just play and they loved watching all the kids and the attention.

Congrats! We have another baby on the way with "big" twins but there are also two other children between the twins and the new baby :) We've never had any issues beyond the normal sibling stuff. Siblings are great :)

My twins will probably be 7 or 8 when I have my next baby. But they have a little brother already that was born when they were nearly 3.5 and 2 older brothers.

My girls will be 5 when our next is born...I'm actually glad because like some other posters mentioned they will be able to entertain and even help a little so I don't think it will be too bad :)

Congratulations!! My twins were not quite 2 when my singleton was born, so no advice to pass on here.
