I have the famous twin skin. My OB let me know last week that it was NOT going to retract on its own and has referred me to a plastic surgeon for a tummy tuck. Anyone else considering?
I am 5 feet tall and grew two big healthy babies! Although they were born at 35 weeks - they were both over 5 pounds. I have a very small frame and my skin just couldn't take it. Because I am so small I really can't go up a size in clothing and figure the cost of the surgery would even out with the cost of alterations if I went up a size in clothes. Would still like to hear if others are considering one though.

I am going to get one for sure, but first we're going to move back to Europe and then I need to find a fine doctor and I want both kids to be walking so maybe the second half of next year.

I lost all the weight (I am below) within 2 weeks, I am back in my normal clothes since 1 week post partum but I just have this twin skin which is "hanging". When I stand it's not too bad, but when I sit I don't feel comfortable. I am 34, but I feel if I don't do something now, it will only get worse once I get older. I gained 43lbs in 38 weeks and my babies were almost 8lbs a piece so it wasn't that bad. It's just the skin on the tummy so that's what's the most depressing thing about it. I feel there is no other solution.

I am seeing my OB one more time before I leave, so I'll ask her opinion as well.

Nah, not going to bother. I'm never going to look 20 again anyway, so who cares? As long as I keep a healthy weight & exercise, I feel good about my body.

I have major twinskin and yes I'm totally going to get a tummy tuck. If were just wrinkly loose skin I wouldn't bother but I have what my doctor lovingly called an "apron of fat". :icon_eek:

Oh, man, I can't WAIT! I've always had a "pouch"...never a flat stomach even at my thinnest. I learned to accept it after my teen years because I realized that it wasn't noticeable and that lots of people saw it as "feminine". Whatever.

ANyway......Now? Ick. Plain old ick. We may try for another baby in about a year or so, so I'll obviously wait until after that. Now starts the research on a plastic surgeon. I can't believe I just wrote that! Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would do plastic surgery. But NOTHING looks nice around my stomach area. Believe me, a tummy tuck is not going to make me look like Jessica Simpson (she just popped into my head), I'll still have my ga-dunk-a-dunk butt and small-ish breasts. But this skin has GOT to go.

I am totally considering a tummy tuck but I want to give myself a chance to lose the weight and see how I/it looks. My boys are 10 months and I am back down to my pre-preg size but I do still have the extra skin, but I have not been able to exercise to see if I can get it to do anything. So, I am not judging but I see that your twins are only a month or so old...so you still have some time to recover and see what your body does. I am surprised that your OB referred you so early to a plastic surgeon. But, I totally get the streched skin dilemma.

Someday I'm treating myself to one. I gained/lost 85# with my pregnancy! It is pretty gross and now the rest of me is finally in good shape.

We're still going to have more kids...but once I'm all done with being pregnant I absolutely will. My mom had to have one for medical reasons---not just unsightly skin, and I think I'm headed in the same direction. I'm proud of my body for being healthy and strong and the three kids it's grown, but aesthetically....I'll really look forward to getting the stomach hang taken care of.

I might wait a while...your twins are only a month old right? I don't know if your OB can determine how you'll look in 6 months right now. Just my opinion. I'm not against the tuck - just give yourself some time to recover...

Add me to the list of wanting to get a tummy tuck! In a few years though, we want to make sure we aren't going to have anymore, because that would defeat the purpose. I know my body will never be the same as before, but I don't know how long I can take tucking in my belly...it's just not cute! <_<
