Does anyone know if you need the twin nursing pillow?? I have 2 boppys and have been told it's near impossible to nurse both at once if your alone even with the twin pillow. I'll pay the $50 if I have to but I'm curious if it really is all that and a bag of chips!

Also, any tips on feeding them both at the same time?

So far the best tip I've read says to nurse one while the other is in a boppy right next to you with a bottle.

    Thanks ladies!!

I got one (off of Craigslist for much cheaper) because I figured that it was worth having and trying it out...what I learned from nursing my son is that sometimes the right tools can make all the difference! Most twin moms say that the twin pillow is worth it, so I figured that I would get one (even if I had to pay full price) and if it didn't work for me, I could always sell it...$50 isn't cheap...but it's also not so much that it's going to send us into bankruptcy, you know? So, it was worth it to me.

You might try posting this in the nursing forum...or try doing a search, I'm pretty sure this question has been asked at least a handful of times! Good luck! :)

I never used a nursing pillow with my singletons and so I never thought of buying one for my twin boys. I am alone with the twins 80% of the feedings because my husband is in the Navy and gone most of the time. I use a criss cross hold in a semi reclining position. I would latch on the baby who has the most difficulty, then with one hand grab the other that would lay along side of my thigh, head furthest away. It is funny how fast you learn to juggle two during feeding time. My boys are now 5 months and I can still one hand grab them and get them in position and still no pillows!

I didn't use a nursing pillow with my singletons, but I did buy a second hand twin pillow from a consignment shop. I've used it about 5 times. I rarely nurse the babies a the same time, but when I do, I think it is just as easy to do it without the pillow (Okay, there's nothing really easy about nursing two babies at once!!!) I also use the criss cross hold in a semi reclining position.

Does anyone know if you need the twin nursing pillow?? It is excellent to have especially for tandem feeding! Breastfeeding one baby is time consuming so if you can do both at the same time alot of moms find it very beneficial. Most moms get so efficient with the twin nursing pillow that they can even nurse hands free and do something fun like surf twinstuff :)

I have 2 boppys and have been told it's near impossible to nurse both at once if your alone even with the twin pillow. I have to wonder how many of those that told you were twin nursing moms?! It will take a little getting used too but there are TONS of moms right here on TS who have and do successfully nurse both with no outside assistance (myself included) :)

Also, any tips on feeding them both at the same time? Come on over to the breastfeeding forum we can give you a whole host of tips!!!

I definitely agree - this is a key purchase. I used it several times daily for the first 6 months.

My boys are almost 9 months and I could not have survived with out the nursing pillow! We're using it right now. I never could get the hang of the crisscross hold the pp talked about. Anyone who can is my hero! Doing things by myself was tricky at first and we had to find our own rhythm and what works for us. One thing I did was set two bouncy seats on either side of me while I sat on the floor with my back to the couch. I could reach them to put them on the pillow and there was place for them to sleep when they were done. That was the theory anyway. Much fiddling and trial and error and here I am on a bean bag chair with Miles trying to help me type (He's finished) and Bob taking a nap. This sight helped me. Wish I had found it sooner. http://www.karengromada.com/karengromada/photos/index.htm

I heard a lot of ideas while I was prego on how to nurse twins. The one that makes me laugh the most was I should nurse one while pumping and feeding the other a bottle in a bouncy seat. I got this gem of advice after I told her I'd be nursing them tandem. She insisted this would be easier than tandem feeding. Not for me!

Some love it, some get on with out it, and some hate it. Personally it was worth every penny, and if I ever have a singleton I'll use it to nurse him/her. I love going hands free!!

    GL!

Using mine as I read and post this on my iPhone.

The LC at the hospital said it wouldn't work, DH was ready to get rid of it since it takes too much space. But I didn't want to give up, found a video on YouTube on how to use it and it worked. Search for "tandum breastfeeding", yes, with a U.

It saves so much time, and $ because I was giving formula to whoever wasn't BF.

i didn't use mine a whole lot at first because it took us about 6-8 weeks to conquer tandem feeding, but now i use it 6 times a day and LOVE my EZ2Nurse pillow. I got mine for $15 new off my twins club classifieds from another mom who bought it and couldn't BF her twins.
