    Hi:

I guess I'm feeling a bit old and worn out today (see prior post re early wakings.) Can I get a "shout out" from any other twin moms out there that are over 40 years old? :wavey:

I figure there's strength in numbers!

    Hi Meg,

You're not alone :) I'm 42 going on 43 in November. We made the big bed transition back in February with Justin. I wasn't ready to let go the crib with my daughter because she wasn't complaining. She never climb in or out of her crib at the time. By then we were Spring cleaning and it was time to get rid of both cribs. I was surprised that someone came over to grab both of my cribs right away. So, I didn't have a choice but I knew Rianna would be fine. Because we were at Papa's house on the lake twice before the bed transition. At his house they had no choice but to sleep on the big bed. They did well with nap/bed time.

Anyway, my twins has ALWAYS been an early riser to this day. There were a few times where we told Justin to stay in bed. He did fell asleep again and woke up at 7 AM. I am starting to feed them for breakfast instead at 8:30 to 9:00 AM. I figured they'll have to get used to this because of preschool next year. After breakfast they pretty much like to lay down and watch their Disney show for an hour. The TV is off by 9 AM because I like to get them out of the house to do whatever errands, park, playdates, and etc. They do catnap around 3:30 PM for about 40 mins or so where they get super cranky. My twins will be '3' on Sept. 30th. I don't know how I am going to pull it through w/summer as we don't have swing set in our back yard. It is kind of a hassle to throw both of them into the van, pack up, and go to a park that is about 10 mins away. I would rather much sit on our patio and watch them run around where we can eat or potty. :)

I noticed I get really tired right after we put them to bed at 8:30 PM, I cannot stay up pass 10:00 PM anymore. We still to this day fight over "who get up" on the weekends. LOL

    Have a great weekend!
    RJ (Rianna & Justin)

I'm 42 (will be 43 in August) and my twins are 4 yrs old (soon to be 5). I have to say .. I'm pretty tired but I do enjoy them alot. I have 3 older children (dd 22, dd 20 and ds 17) and it seems I have much more patience and tolerance than when my others were younger. Maybe its because I know how fast they grow up ! I'm also a grandmother and my twins nephew is pretty much growing up right beside his uncles. But there are days I feel old and worn out (like today).

Well, I'm not quite there yet. I'm 39 and will turn the big 4-0 in October! However, I can totally understand what you're talking about. I work full time as a 5th grade teacher and have had to have many conversations with my DH about bedtime for the kids. I try to have them in bed with me DONE by 8:00. He's OK with them going to bed a little later, because all of them can sleep in, but I can't. I have usually 'hit the wall' by about 7:00 and drag myself through that last hour. When he's still wanting to play and mess around with them as the clock approaches 8:00, I tend to start getting a little testy!

    Hi!!!

I'm 47 with 3yo twin girls and their big sister who is 6. I work FT and am always tired. I wouldn't trade my life with anyone. I'd have more if DH would agree - not likely :D

All of the toddler stuff - PT, big kid bed, food struggles - I know I'll miss them someday when I'm worried about one of the girls missing curfew or out with an older boy....

Oh wait - I'll be too old to care when they're teens. :p

Hi! I am a 41 year old mom to 2 1/2 year old b/g twins. My DH has hep C and is on the liver transplant list so I am pretty tired most of the time!! I figure I must actually have a lot of energy to keep up with my twin tornadoes but there sure isn't any energy left over for me!! :)

Hi! I hear you on the tiredness part. I'm 41 with a 7 yr old and 4 yr old twins. Being a single parent (divorced) and working full time was not part of my plans. But like any childhood phase, I've learned to adjust and snooze when I can.

The kids are such a delightful part of my life and I wouldn't trade them for anything.

Wow! Thanks to all of you for responding. Just reading your posts gave me strength and encouragement. I'm pleased to be a member of this awesome group of over 40 twin moms!

After a weekend that included some sleep (and normal wake up times, for whatever reason  ) the world seems like a better place. I've learned that, as an older mom, I need to protect my sleep (if I can) in order to have enough energy to make it from wake-up time to bedtime.

    Thanks again!

    Meg

Hang in there - we will survive this!

Can I join in ? I'm 42, mom to 2 1/2 yo b/g twins. I also work almost full time. I'm tired lots of the time too. Luckily, mine go to sleep at 8pm, so I still have some "me time" in the evening. I think I'll actually be sad when they're not toddlers anymore. I try to think of this when I'm at the end of my rope.

I'm 42 and my boys are turning 2 in 3 days :) I work full-time and go to bed very early so I'm well rested for the next day which works most of the times (barring stress induced insomnia or a waking boy). I'm also a single mom and I find what exhausts me is trying to juggle all the work/household/child needs and figuring out just when to get it all done. Little things like going to the hardware store to buy a new bath plug can send me over the edge because it's not in the schedule.

Wow, can I join you all? I'm 47 and single mom to 3 1/2 year old boys. I work full-time and am exhausted most of the time, but love every minute of them being three. Well, except for the whining, fighting, crying, whining, arguing, crying, whining...um I guess I'll stop there. :p

    Hi All!

I guess I'm the oldest Mom of the group. (Or the only one willing to admit it!) I just turned 50!!! YIKES!!!!!

I honestly think I have waaaay more patience now than I would have in my earlier years. It's very bittersweet as I totally realize how quickly time goes by (boy do I!).

I feel much more mentally tired because I also take care of my Alzheimer's mother and physically...well.....tired pretty much sums it up.

All in all though, I wouldn't change a thing. It is what it is! And I LOVE what it is.

I am 41 and knackered most of the time. But I LOVE it and know just how precious this time is as they will all be in school soon as time passes soooooo fast. Was great to read this thread as soooo want another baby right now but think i'm too old!

:wavey: Me too! I'm think I'm 43? I knew I was getting older when I had to do the math to figure out my age. ;)
My boys turned 4 on April 30th. Life just keeps getting better.
