I am 37 weeks and 5 days... have a running record of carrying my babies to AFTER full term. I think i just may make it!!

do you know anyone who has ever made 40+ weeks with twins??

I don't personally, but my OB certainly does. Everytime I tell her I want these two out, she tells me, you never know, you could go full term! Eeeek!!! Sounds like a threat rather than a bonus at this stage. I'm just a couple days behind you, and am more than ready for my little ones to evacuate the premises :)

LOL every time i talk to my dr about being full term and not scheduling a C-section she laughs LOL. I dont blame her, but I really think these two are going to stay in for at least another 2 weeks. My due date is June 5th so I figured if she really wanted a C-section date then I would be more then happy to be scheduled for 6/7/08 :p

    Am I a brat LOL

Congratulations on being so far along!! A due date of 6/7/8 would be very cool! I know my ob always told me that she considered 37 weeks full term for twins so in her eyes- you're post dates!! Good luck and keep us posted!

i remember from when i was on the expecting board, there were a couple stories of women that went to 40 weeks, but a lot of OBs and Peris dont want twins to go that long-usually 38 weeks! you did awesome mama!! congrats on your girls!! they are lots of fun!!

 Congrats on making it so far!!

I'm not sure of any stats on woman that have made it to 40+ weeks, but I do believe I would have been one of them had I not begged my OB to set a c/s date. He wouldn't schedule a c/s until 38 weeks and the first availabe date they had put me at 39 weeks, and I was showing no signs of my body doing it on it's own.

You are almost there momma!! :a_smil09:

My aunt had her twins (her 5th and 6th children, btw!) at 40+ weeks without incident.
Are you being monitored carefully with non-stress tests, etc.?
There is some concern that twins start to struggle after 38 weeks because the placenta may begin to degenerate and they don't get the amount of food and oxygen they should. I would ask your OB or Peri about that.
Better safe than sorry! My C/S was scheduled for 38 weeks and they were almost 7 pounds each. They probably would have gone longer, I had no contractions. But they were fine! No NICU time or anything.

Congrats, I was physically done at 38w2d ... but I still wonder ... how long would they have lasted without an induction ... but with almost 8lbs a piece I was good with the decision.

Woo HOO!! Good for you!! I went to 37w 5d and the dr. took them due to their size...they were afraid I'd go into labor and then risk rupturing due to a prior c-section. As they delivered the boys, my OB commented that I totally could have carried them to 40+... plenty of room and lots of fluid! Both my girls were 42+ and induced...I just like to bake them extra long!
    Good luck!!

I did!!! Yeah for you for not giving into an induction! I went all 40 wks with my boys. My midwife delivered 2 sets of twins that went to 41 wks. One set weighed 8 and 8.5 pds and the other weighed 8 and 9 pds! My boys were only 6'4 and 7'2 and that was at 40 wks. I was so glad I didn't go early. Way to go! You can make it and have incredibly big healthy babies!

My dr decided it was best in our case to get the show on the road at 38 wks ( Addison AKA baby A was breech and had low fluid) - but had Addison not had low fluid he would have let me go until it happened which I had NO signs of!!

a birth day of 06-07-08 would be way cool!!!
