We just found out today we are having two girls and are so excited!! Now that we are really picking names for them I can't decide what I like best! Which do you like least and most?

    (Adelie rhymes with Natalie)

Adelie Marie and Amelia Margaret (This was what we said we were going to name them, but now I don't think I want them to have the same initials)

Adelie Margaret and Isabella Riley (I think Adelie and Isabella sound good together, right now I'm leaning toward this one)

Adelie Margaret and Lily Marie (I am not sure about Adelie and Lily together)

Adelie Marie and Margaret _____ (this is okay but I'm not sure if Margaret sounds too old-fashioned?)

I like Adalie Marie and Margaret Amelia ... that way one is A.M. and the other is M.A.!

Both Adalie and Margaret are beautiful "older" names that are definitely enjoying a comeback these days. And the nicknames Addie and Maggie are so darn cute together!!!

    Good luck!

All of your choices are cute, but I think I like Adelie Margaret and Isabella Riley the best. Good luck! :)

In your opinion, do you think Isabella is a name that will get my daughter teased when she goes to school?

why would she get teased for Isabella? I love the nn Sybil for Isabella. I however do not like Riley on a girl. I prefer the Adelie Margaret and Lily Marie combo but would like Adelie Marie and Isabella Lily better.

ME TOO! Just what she said!

I also don't see why Isabella would get teased any more than any other name. Certain kids get teased. IMHO it has more to do with their personality in the mix of personalities in their class than what name you give them. I've known kids with very normal names, who got teased just as much as ones with wierd names.

I REALLY LIKE Isabella Marie, because my middle name is Marie. If I did Adelie Margaret and Isabella Marie then both girls would have a family middle name. (Margaret was dh's grandmother). But I love Adelie Marie and Margaret Amelia too!
My mom HATES all of the names I've picked out and acts like she can't pronounce them. I told her to give me a break, Adelie is just "Natalie without the N" and she acts like she can't pronounce it.....

Oh the reason I asked about if Isabella would be teased is because when I told my mom I was thinking of that name she said "you need to think of when that child goes to school, with a name like Isabella she is going to be teased" and I was thinking, what are you talking about?!?

Isabella is a really popular and quite classic name. The only way I think she'd be happy is if you let her name them. Which I advise against just remember they are your children and you can't make everyone happy so its best to please yourself and SO. My stbx's grandmother said our names were N----- names! So maybe you should ask her how she likes some really crazy off the wall ones and maybe she like your names better because they are all great except the Riley on a girl and thats just my personal hangup.

I like these modified choices...Adelie Margaret and Isabella Marie.... I've never been fond of Riley or Amelia... And who cares what your mom thinks...she'll get used to the names!! My mom offers tons of names for us, and I hate almost everything she suggests...so I've come to the conclusion that we just have very, very different tastes in names....

All your choices sound lovely - especially the first names. Family names are a wonderful way of showing kids how valued they and their relatives are. I am biased in favor of Isabella since I have a fantastic cousin with that name. We call her IB for short.

    Congratulations!

Thanks! We've made up our minds now....our first choice back when we found out was Adelie Marie and Amelia Margaret, but we didn't want them to have the same initials......but I just love Adelie and Amelia! So we are going to name them Adelie Grace and Amelia Margaret, so that way the initials will be different. When I told my parents this weekend they laughed and laughed at me and made fun of the names! They made fun of every name I was considering. They said the names are hideous and when my girls are older, they are going to tell them that they (my parents) hated their names and advised me against them! I think they are just old-fashioned, every name I suggested they hated! They hated Isabella, they hated Margaret, and they hate both Adelie and Amelia! I told them they had their chance to name babies and now it's my turn, so butt out. They said they'd never remember the names and could not pronounce them, so I wrote them on a piece of paper really big and posted it on their refrigerator so they can start practicing.

    I love your choices.
I'm also sorry that your parents can't just be happy for you. I don't think they are particularly difficult to pronounce at all. I agree with the other poster that you should tell them that you've changed your mind to something totally outrageous. We didn't have our names finalized until after the girls were born and during the pregnancy DH went around telling people we were naming one Mary and the other Juana (marijuana) most people couldn't tell if he was joking or not and just shut up about the names.

LOL they would probably believe me, they act like Adalie and Amelia are so outrageous.

If you love the names, that's all that matters!! We didn't tell ANY of our family members the names we picked out utill after the girls were born!! We wanted there to be something that everyone didn't know before the birth, but mostly because we didn't want to hear everyone's opinions of the names. If they didn't like the names, we didn't want to listen to them try and disuade us from using them for 7 months. We got crap from everyone since we never talked names the whole pregnancy, but I'm glad we didn't.

Aimee, if your folks are anything like most grandparents, the moment they see those beautiful girls, it won't matter if you name them "Thing 1" and "Thing 2" -- they will love them!

I admit that I wasn't at all fond of the names my DD picked out for her boys. Although I hope I wasn't TOO negative about her choices, I did make a lot of alternate suggestions during her pregnancy in the hopes that she'd change her mind, lol!

But the minute I laid eyes on those precious babies, it didn't matter that I didn't care for their names. They are my DD's babies and she is thrilled with the names she picked out and that's all that matters to me. I won't say I love their names now but they certainly fit their little personalities!

I caved to my mom's desire when my DD was born and named her what my mom wanted. I wish I hadn't. I do like my DD's name but after 24 years I still wish I had given her the name I originally wanted, even though my mom kept telling me she hated that name.

Name your children what YOU want to name them so you won't look back and have regrets! Amelia and Adalie are beautiful names, and I sincerely hope your family will grow to appreciate them!

    Best of luck to you!

Well I've changed my mind about the names!! I don't think we are going to be able to decide until we meet them......

Now I am liking the names Sarah Claire and Sydney Marie......

Yesterday I wrote 4 name pairs on a piece of paper and put them in my wallet, I'm going to make sure DH brings it with us to the hospital and we will decide when they are born.

We like Adelie Grace and Amelia Margaret
    Sydney Marie and Sarah Claire
    and
    Margaret Anne and Morgan Marie

So we'll see what we end up with!!
