Me, Dh and our boys went to a birthday party yesterday for my friend's DD that turned one. There was a lady there that apparently has two sets of twin grandchildren and when she saw that we had twins she just started going off on how bad she felt for us, how much we had our hands full, etc, etc. Saying how both her sets of twin grandchildren were so bad and hated each other, blah, blah, blah. Ok, so whatever, I just sort of stood there smiling and didn't let anything she said bother me. Well then, later, she was in the dining room at the table and DH and I were tending to the twins in the living room right across from the dining room (she's about maybe 30ft from us or less?) and she starts going off again about how bad her twins are, etc...not talking to us but to the other people in the room but loud enough for us to hear. Ok, whatever. But then she says VERY loudly...Everyone I know with twin boys are divorced!!!!!!!
Ok, I could NOT believe she said this for us to hear...I turned around with a REALLY snarly look on my face and glared at her....she was clearly meaning for us to hear this becasue she was looking right at me when I turned around. Ooooh....I was SOOO mad and it actually ruined my time at the party...I was SO ready to leave and would have LOVED to say something to her but I'm non-confrontational and wouldn't have wanted to ruin my friend's party. Ooooh...I'm still fuming. What the heck is wrong with people???????

Some people just have no common sense and don't know when not to say things. She probably wanted the attention on her and figured that is how she could get it.

OMG, people are so rude. I hate when people say they feel sorry for us that have twins....nothing sorry about it here, we are lucky! I understand not wanting to ruin your friend's party but man that would have been great to say "Well I guess we are going on Oprah because we are the exception!"

How rude! Maybe next year (if you go to the party again) you can nicely point out how you are not divorced and LOVE having twins.

Oh they are all over the place aren’t they. That woman had some nerve. I was at a birthday party for a friends 5 year old DD and a group in the conrner started talking about IVF . One woman said “oh I don’t think I would do it because you could end up with twins….I mean my god could you imagine. Your life would be totally over.” Yep my life is over because I had two babies instead of one WHATEVER. ;)
