Twin celebrity gone bad

Today I went to the grocery store for a "quick trip" to get a couple things for dinner and eggs to dye for tomorrow. The twins were in their stroller and my 2 yr old was walking next to me.

When we got to the eggs, we were suddenly mobbed by people wanting to see the babies. I mean surrounded--there must have been four or five groups of people there! All coming at the stroller and talking loudly in high pitched voices--you know how it goes. I had to walk around the stroller and push past people to even get to the eggs and before I could grab a carton I suddenly saw the stroller tipping over backwards!!! It was like slow motion, it was awful. I was inches from the front but couldn't grab it. People were gasping, but no one reached out and caught it! I pushed my way back and saw that my 2 year old was trapped underneath, on her back! The babies were ok (thank god they hadn't moved an inch in their seats and were of course strapped in) and my older daughter was fine too, although she was so scared she clung to me and bawled for 5 minutes straight. She had been so scared by the mob of people coming for the stroller that she'd run behind it to hide and accidentally pulled it over. :( Poor little thing, she was terrified.

The crowd dispersed, one woman who had been part of the crowd even made some snooty remark, and a couple people who hadn't been gawking were the only ones who came over to help me. The snooty woman annoyed me, because was there with two girls who had Down Syndrome--she must know about parenting challenges, of all people couldn't she have been nicer??

I totally felt like one of those celebrities with the paparazzi surrounding them and causing a dangerous situation that they then don't help the celebrity out of. I'm still trying to calm down about it. NO ONE in that crowd even bothered to ask if the kids were all ok!

:( I'm sorry that happened. And that nobody helped or asked how the kids were. Some people take the fun out of having twins. I'm sorry.

I'm sorry sweetie! My older DD was 28 mos when the babies were born, she is very shy and really hated all the attention and comments from strangers. People can be really thoughtless!

What!? That really is rude and thoughtless. I'm so sorry that happened to you. :( Your poor little DD. :(
We've been out a lot more with our boys just in the past week or so due to family visiting, and it is crazy how attention-getting it can be ...

Thank goodness they were still strapped in! There were many times that I had taken a baby out to check a diaper and didn't resecure their straps until we got back in the car. So glad everyone is okay!

That´s terrible! Your poor 2-yr old too! Im glad both babies and your DD are OK. People are just so inconsiderate and think they have the right to touch the babies etc. Ugh! If my DD had been there she would have scared everyone off with her crying (she has stranger anxiety BIG time)!

I'm sorry this happened. Its only natural for her to want to hide with that mob of ppl swarming over! Poor girl! You're too well-mannered, I'd have commented at that lady back! :rotflmbo:
