So my husband and I joke that now I literally have more cahones than he does (since I am carrying 2 boys) and he also says people better not cross me because I have more testosterone coursing through my veins than a man.

My question is does carrying twin boys really affect the mom's testosterone levels? No increased libido for sure. No hair in weird places yet thank goodness, but I have been in a pit of rage the last week. I'm not sure if it is hormones or holiday stress. I have seethed and fumed in stores where the return policy was crappy, been REALLY angry with my husband over basically anything, and even wrote an angry letter to someone I normally try to limit my contact with which my husband refused to let me send. I submitted to his judgment on that one because I know I am basically ready to snap and don't want to be embarrassed later, ya know? I want to take a sledgehammer and smash stuff! I'm really tired of being constantly angry.

I went through an angry period too, I'm not sure if it has to do with testosterone or hormones, but I was pissed off for 5 weeks straight!

I remember feeling that way with my first pregnancy, and I'm feeling it coming on with this one! I'm so IRRITABLE! Everything bugs me. I get mad at nothing all the time. The only thing that balances it out is the fact that I'm too tired to stay fired up for long! If I had to choose between getting into with my DH or napping....a nap wins everytime!

I had a singleton son before but I was the most docile woman around. I just was so sweet that my husband wanted to keep me pregnant forever. Now he's saying he can't wait for me to be un-pregnant again. At least I have set the bar pretty low for the rest of my life [IMG]

OK - don't laugh - but this is my experience. When I was pregnant with my singleton son, I did stupid stuff all the time. I backed my car into my sister's SUV that was parked directly behind me in the driveway! I forgot stuff all the time! I would lose my focus at work regularly. I became even more stubborn and fiesty than I already am! NOW - with twin girls - I feel like I have been more focused on things in general, defintiely more sharp than before. I have come up with more creative solutions to things at work. I think I'm nicer! Coincidence? Not that I am knocking my dh, or men for that matter (well, maybe a little! [IMG] ), but I really do think the higher levels of testosterone with the first pregnancy made me a nimrod! (nice word, huh?) I can tell you though, my hair was fantastic during that first pregnancy - and now, I have been losing it. There you go - my testosterone testimonial!

I'm n ot sure, but I'm carrying twin boys too. I seem to have the increased hair growth, and horrible skin, especially on my back. I feel like a teenager sometimes. I haven't hit the angry stage yet...here's hoping i don't. I'm defintaely "stupid" all the time, and a big huge clutz! Don't feel bad!

well, I couldn't tell you if it's testosterone, or just hormones in general, but I'm normally an irritable pregnant person anyway, and from pretty much the beginning of this pregnancy I've been twice as irritable and I didn't even know it was twins until almost 21 weeks! so I figure the fact that it's twins at least explains being twice as irritable with everyone. I feel for ya. even when people are trying to be nice I just roll my eyes to myself, and smile so they hopefully don't know how onery I am lol! it's terrible. I can't wait to be done either.

I think it's hormones, if not our u/s tech has made a mistake many times over, LOL. I'm expecting girls & I have the bad skin, the rages & the inability to stay focused. Gee, I'm a mess, LOL!

I definitely think there's a link (and I'm holding onto it as long as I can) - in my case, I developed this uncanny ability to catch things [IMG] We knew I was pregnant again when I caught some slippery something mid-air....hehe. It was definitely different carrying two boys plus one girl than carrying two boys. I'm all about the hormones, but don't know that you can blame all the bad stuff on testosterone [IMG]

Good luck with everything and hope you're feeling more yourself soon!
You're gonna LOVE having two sons, btw, can't beat boys who love their mama [IMG]

Hmm... interesting thought... maybe it does, maybe it doesn't...

I was just talking to DH about it, and we both don't remember me acting any different or more angry during my pregnancy... not any different than now, LOL

I tried to do a search but came up enpty handed. I thought another mothers group I belong to once said that boys do not start to produce testosterone in large/measurable amounts until they hit puberty. I took that at face value and can't find anything to back it up or disprove it.

Who knows?? Not me! But we pregnant ladies can use all the excuses in the world. We are just out of wack!

Have fun milking it for all it's worth.

Not sure testosterone has anything to do with it. I think I read somewhere that baby boys are born with proportionally large testicals to produce testosterone in utero for their development... nor sure how much passes to you.

I would say that twin pregnancy is taxing and it's totally normal to get stressed out during the holidays -- shoot, I'm not pregnant any more and I had some real fun stressful moments tihs holiday season!!

Just take a deep breath, focus on keeping those babies inside for another 8 weeks if you can and enjoy the calm and peace as much as you can cause you're soon to have your whole life disrupted -- in a good way.

funny about the cahones!! LOL - I used to joke about the same thing with my hubby.

More testesterone than a man... [IMG]

Maybe that´s an explanation. I didn´t experience being agressive, but there´s a saying here in Germany that "Girls take the mother´s beauty, and boys give her beauty".

I always thought that´s rubbish (as I was having to singleton daughters before [IMG], but actually, now I think it makes sense. I never felt so pretty as I did in this pregnancy - I mean, ok, now, being 9 months pregnant, I´m huge as a balloon, but my skin is clear (it normally never is), and my hair is just like it should be everyday, and I don´t feel so fat and swollen in my face or elsewhere than I did with the girls. I just had a look at the pictures when I was pregnant with the girls - I really looked awfull, then.

And in the middle of my pregnancy, I had much more libido than I had in any other pregnancy.
