    Are you expecting twins?
I delivered the twins by scheduled c-section at 36 weeks (it was the doctor's idea to go so early). I had no problems! The delivery went great, I nursed them tandem in the recovery room, and pain medication has come a long way since I had my oldest daughter 14 years ago, so there was very little pain! I was sitting up by that evening, and walking around the next day!
The twins stayed a few extra days in the hospital due to jaundice, but that was the only issue.

I was very fortunate to go full term with my babies! I had a scheduled c-section at 38 weeks, 3 days. I probably would've tried for a vaginal delivery, except they were transvers & breech.....so the dr said "no way!" :)

My anesthesiologist (I'm sure I spelled that wrong) was awesome! Not only did he bend the rules a bit & let dh go in with me for the spinal, but I didn't feel a thing. I remember sitting there with my head pushed against my dr & dh sitting across from me, waiting for some kind of pain....and finally I told my dr, "Is he going to do it soon? My feet feel funny." She said he'd already done it & that was it taking effect in my feet 1st. :)

I do think I'm sensitive to the drugs, though. They gave me something else to keep me from throwing up. Apparently many women will get nauseous from the spinal, so in a c-section they give you something to combat that. For me, it also made me SOOOOOO drowsy. And I was extremely numbed up - way up to my armpits! I kept asking the guy if I was ok, b/c I couldn't feel myself breathing. He was great, though, and kept assuring me it was all normal. The only thing I really didn't like about the birth experience was that b/c of the meds, I kept fighting to stay awake & I had wanted to really "be there". It was done so fast, though.....it felt like no time, and I heard the cries of my babies! They brought them each to me to see, but I couldn't hold them b/c I was technically still in surgery. Can you believe it, they gave the babies to dh & he took them out to the family in the waiting room & left me - tummy still open!! :D He was just so excited about being a daddy. :)

I couldn't really see what everyone was doing; they had this stupid sheet in front of me. That was another thing I didn't like! I wanted to see! I even asked my dr before hand if they could put a mirror on the ceiling, but she said no. And like I said, the meds made me kind of out of it. But they took me back to my room, and the babies were all there with dh in their little warming bed. My family & his family were all there, crying over how beautiful they were.

We did try to nurse pretty soon, but I wasn't able to. I wouldn't worry about that, though.....I had othe issues that made it difficult. (Although if you're planning on BF, I would read up on it!) Oh, and yes - the nurses will help you! The hospital should have a specific nurse just for that; called a lactation consultant. I definitely needed her, and I was told that since I had twins I'd be at the top of her list. It was great having her help. We even scheduled some appointments to see her after I was home, since we were having a hard time with it.

Both babies did really well. DS spent about 3 hrs in the nicu one night, but only b/c he had a drop in blood sugar & they needed to get more food into him.

    Congratulations on your girls!!

I had a section at 36 weeks, 6 days as both babies were breech and my daughter had not moved in 2 days. Turns out she was fine, just sleepy and crowded. The section took a little over 2 hours due to some complications with my abdominal muscles and blood loss. I cannot tell you how relieved I was to get to the recovery room and see Dad there with 2 babies. Both babies roomed in with us the whole time.

I did not try to breast feed as they had already had a bottle by the time my surgery was over......... blood sugar was too low to wait. So I pumped and pumped and pumped and got my milk to come in........ they still would not breast feed.............. now all they get is formula.

    They are strong and healthy!

I had labor on and off for a few weeks (dilated to 5 cm) and finally went into the hospital with it because I was scheduled for an induction the next day, anyway, and I REALLLLY didn't want the induction (I was 38 weeks, 4 days). My labor continued slow and easy, till the nurse broke my water (labor got "stuck" due to my water not breaking). Labor up to this point was AWESOME. I didn't even have an IV (just a heplock), ate whatever I wanted to, drank, laughed with my husband and doula, labored in the labor tub (INCREDIBLE! Cut my pain to a third of what it was). After my water broke, there was no more fun. Baby A was out in 10-15 minutes and she was posterior. The doctor missed her birth. Baby B arrived 5 minutes later, arm first (she slept with her arm next to her head for WEEKS). It was awesome having an unmedicated childbirth 'cause I was up and walking around right away, and, within 3 days of the delivery, couldn't believe I had just delivered 2 babies 3 days before!

Both of our babies were able to room in with us right away (praise God), and were only in the nursery for their checkups and bath.

Congratulations!! I have ID girls, too. They are going to be one in a couple weeks. They are so much fun!

I made it to 36 weeks. I was begging my doctor to induce me. But before I could convince him to do it, I went into labor on my own. I got to the hospital with contractions about 3 mins apart and I was 6 centimeters. They made me wait till they got 2 bags of fluid in me (via IV) till they would give me an epidural. But once I had it, all was great! I pushed on and off for a few hours, since they hadn't dropped completely down. Once they did, it only took a few pushes and Jordan was born at 8:59 and Mackenzie came along at 9:15 am. Their labor worse than it was with my son, but his delivery was much worse than the girls. Both of my girls were (are) perfect and we went home two days later. I didn't attempt breastfeeding.

    Good Luck!

    Congratulations on your pregnancy!

I had a fairly easy pregnancy with my girls. At 27 weeks I started contracting regularly and was placed on bedrest and terbutaline. I had to see my OB each week and have 2 non-stress tests (NST) bi-weekly as well. All the appointments made my 9 weeks on bedrest go quickly. I dilated slowly and when I went in for an NST they checked me and I was 4cm so I was admitted to the hospital. My OB broke Melanie's water at noon, by 5pm I started pushing. Melanie was born headfirst and Amelia followed feetfirst :D. Both girls were healthy and a good size for 36 weekers. Mel had low blood pressure so she needed and IV for her first 2 days and Amelia had no complications. Both girls learned to breastfeed right away. The nurses helped me get started with the tandem nursing on the 3rd day at the hospital and I've been doing it ever since.

All in all I really loved being pregnant and the bedrest was a nice break from my high stress job. It was a good time to bound with my babies, I think before then I had just been so busy I hadn't really been able to enjoy all their little kicks and to get to know their little personalities.

Good luck with the remainder of your pregnancy!

I was induced at 37 weeks...partly because I was begging my OB and partly because I'd been dilated to 4cm for a week and had constant contractions. I delivered both vaginally within 5 minutes of each other and without an epidural (not my choice...it didn't work!) We all went home 48 hours later. I couldn't have asked for a smoother delivery.

Don't worry about it one bit. Compared to labor you can't even feel it. It's sooooo nice (it worked with my first son!)

Had our twins at 38 weeks and 4 days, we were induced went in for 7am and by 6pm we were eating dinner while the babies slept. we had a vagional birth with epidural
Baby A was 5 lbs 10 oz and Baby B was 5 lbs 5 oz. Everyone went home 48 hours later. Happy and Health (mommy was a bit sore) but it was so worth it.

I had my girls at 37w 5d...I was induced because on my last ultrasound it showed that the amniotic fluid was low on both babies so the doc figured it was for the best.. I went in at 8am Sat and they started the drip to get contractions going and broke my water... around 1pm I got a epidural I was super nervous for the Epidural but it was nothing really, painless I swear and never felt a darn thing till after they were born didn't even know I was supossed to push cause i couldn't feel a contraction..YAY Epidural....well all afternoon nothin really happened other than SLOWLY dialating...Lol...finally at 10pm I was dialated and they wheeled me into the operating room to start pushing..it was really hectic in there nurses for the babies and doctors for each one plus my OBGYN. I had atleast a dozen people in there at one point not including my DH and MIL it made me kinda nervous at first to see that many people but I knew my girls would get the help they needed if need be...I pushed for what only seemed like minutes and Baby A was born at 1024 weighing 6 lbs we named her Melina they whisked her away and I remember looking at all of them cleaning her and checking vitals..my Doc broke the second water then the nurse said it was time to start pushing again...it's really weird you watch one being born then they tell you to push again and I was like aww crap oh ya I have to do that again...LOL...I started pushing again and Baby B was born at 1033 weighing 6 lbs .7ozs and we named her Makayla...since it was so late in the evening they didn't make me go to recovery they just let me stay in the operating room with my girls...I breastfed like 15 mins after they were born and it went really well...they wheeled me into the room with the babies following right behind and it's kinda been a blur ever since then..LOL..which is probably a good thing. I can remember the birth so vividly but the first few months after they were born which wasn't that long ago I can't remember specifics it goes by just way to quick...the only thing outta the whole experience I didn't like was the nurses coming in afterwards and pressing on my belly to contract and check my uterus...SO PAINFUL I wish I had the epidual for that...and i guess since it was twins they had to do it more often I couldn't stand it at one point I begged her not to do it to me..Lol...but other than that I would do that delivery again if i could just to experience it all over again..

I wish you the best of luck and hope yours goes as smoothly

Congrats to you and your family

I had our babies at 34wk 4d by c/s. I had been on bedrest since 19wks for preterm labor. I went into labor on friday night and went to the hospital saturday afternoon when the ctx didn't stop and were getting closer(4-6min). I was dilated to a 2 in dr. office friday, was 4cm saturday. I live in a small town so only 1 ped. My ob wanted to wait for ped to be there for the delivery. He was out of town on Saturday. By Sunday my ob decided he wanted to try to hold me off until 35wks if possible, that would have been thursday. Not too excited about that, but nature took care of that. By Sunday I was dilated to a 5 and getting terb every 2 hours. I had been on mag but my kidneys wouldn't tolerate it. At 7am on Monday I was 6cm, 90%effaced with bulging bag. Nurse said Abby was right there. I was ctx every 2 min and nothing was slowing it down so I had a c/s at about 1pm. Abby was born at 1:24pm, 5# 3.5oz and Jake was born at 1:25pm, 4# 0.6oz. Both did great and went home the following Tuesday. I was nervous about the c/s but it happened so quick. I also had some medicine for nausea but I do remember seeing the babies before DH went with them to the nursery, then they put me out. I had a fair amount of pain the first day or two but the quicker you get up and move the better it is. Besides I had 2 beautiful babies to go see. That is great motivation to get up and move. also well worth any pain. Good luck with the rest of your pg and delivery.

I'm new here myself and thought this post would be a great intro...I have 3 month old twin boys...When I was 29 weeks I went into preterm labor w/ them and ended up stuck in a hospital 2 hours from home until they were born @ 35 weeks 1 day..the hospitalization was the worst-but that is where I discovered the twinstuff forum (one of the wonderful nurses on the antepartum floor got me a laptop)! I logged on nearly in tears everyday...I was exhausted, I was so huge I could barely walk, the docs looooved to poke and prod me (I was the farthest along @ 35 wks of all the moms on the high risk floor-even singleton moms), and I was alone most of the time (hubby had to stay home, work, take care of our 4 yr old)...
I stayed dilated 4 cms from 29 wks til delivery day. They said I had preeclampsia (but I never had a high blood pressure reading)..at exactly 35 weeks they gave me an amniocentesis to check the boys' lung functions. It was a go, and I was induced the next morning. I labored for six hours ALONE, had an epidural that quit working several times (there was a kink in the line!)...doc checked me once again and I was ready to push, so they wheeled me into the OR (just in case I needed a C-section). As soon as I got in there Baby A's (now known as Aidan) heartrate dropped (and my heart jumped in my throat) and they rushed to get me ready. I started pushing, my husband walked in, and Aidan was born five minutes later. They told me to relax (yeah, okay)...while the Attending Doc talked the resident who was delivering me (yep, it was a teaching hospital) through the next baby's bday...when I heard Mr.Attending tell the other doc that if the water bag did not descend and break on it's own that I would have to be wheeled back to L&D to "wait it out" and the wait has been known to last up to a FEW WEEKS...hearing that I started puuuuushing! Baby B (now known as Dylan) came 14 minutes later (sure beats 2 wks)...
I honestly don't think I could have made it without reading the birth stories posted on this forum at that particular time. I was mortified to have twins, either by C-section or vaginally. When I read all the stories of the other ladies who survived vaginal twin delivery I was energized and resolved to deliver those boys myself vaginally--when I did I fully expected a round of applause from the scores of medical personnel present at the birth! During labor, I just kept reminding myself of those stories I read--to me, most of them sounded as if they were blessed by God to have shorter labors than with singleton babies (my first son took 12 hours). Just remember, you can do it..and afterwards you will be so dang proud of yourself no matter HOW those twins came out of you!

    Addison Kate (4 lbs, 15 ¾ inches) born at 1:10 p.m.
    Aidan Markus ( 3 lbs 12 oz, 16 inches) born at 1:13 p.m.
    Born at 34w3d.

(For background, I was admitted for PTL at 31 weeks and sent home on bed rest. Was admitted and dx with blood clots in my leg and lung at 32 weeks, sent home on bed rest and blood thinners.)

I was admitted to the area tertiary hospital on Tuesday, July 3 for possible low amniotic fluid and growth discordance. Once at the hospital, several detailed ultrasounds showed that the fluid levels were fine and that there was only a small difference in size between Addison and Aidan. However, the perinatologist wanted to continuously monitor the babies for several days before determining if we could go home or would need to remain in the hospital until delivery. On Friday, July 6 we were given the option to either go home on Saturday on strict bed rest doing multiple kick counts daily, or to remain in the hospital with intermittent monitoring until the babies came.

Nick and I were struggling with what to do as we were worried about the safety of the babies and liked the idea of hospital monitoring but also liked the idea of being back home after so many recent hospitalizations.

As it turns out, Aidan made up his mind for us! His water sac broke at 9 pm that evening. I felt a little gush of liquid. And then several more until I had soaked my underwear and the bed. My nurse called for a doctor to examine me and get a sample of the fluid to ensure it was amniotic fluid.

Nick and I were so excited about this advance, knowing we would meet the babies within 24 hours or so. 3 hours later (at midnight) the on call OB finally came to examine me. At one glance, he knew it was amniotic fluid and ordered an IV, antiobiotics (as I hadn’t been group b strep tested yet) and pitocin (as my contractions were still sporadic and weak).

I was able to handle the contractions for about 2 hours before I asked for some pain relief. I knew an epidural would be unlikely due to my blood thinner dose at 9 am Friday morning. The OB checked me and I was at 2 cm and he called the anesthesiologist to ask about an epidural. He also upped my pitocin dose. The anesthesiologist ordered some bloodwork and determined it wasn’t safe yet to do an epidural. It was 3 am by this time and the contractions had continued to get stronger and harder to deal with. But I was given Nubain (a narcotic) in my IV and by an IM shot. It gave me some relief and I was able to cope with the contractions again for 2 hours or so.

Every hour or so, the OB would check me and I was advancing a cm an hour, but he kept upping the pitocin dose every hour as well. The contractions were so bad by this time. I wanted to get up and move through them, but I was confined to my back by order of the OB. I tried to rock and roll on my side to deal with the pain, but it was just so intense.

At 8 am, the OB and nurses changed shifts. The second OB walked in and asked if I had had an epidural. When the nurse said no, he asked if I wanted one and personally called the anesthesiologist to get him to my room ASAP. He also checked me and I was at 8 cm. Lastly, he stopped the pitocin while I waited for the epidural. He was my lifesaver at this point as I had no idea how I could manage going from 8-10 cm and pushing out two babies in such a weakened state.

While waiting for the anesthesiologist, I managed the contractions fine. It was the pitocin that was making them so stong and close togethe for the past 8 hours. The anesthesiologist arrived and the epidural was in by 9 am. It was instant relief.

I slept for several hours and went to 9 ½ cm. Around noon, the OB ordered more pitocin to get rid of the little lip of cervix that was left. With these stronger pitocin contractions, Aidan’s heart rate started dropping so I was put on oxygen and rolled onto my left side. This continued for a little while, until the OB decided that I was not going to advance all the way to 10 cm and that Aidan was not going to be able to handle the rest of labor and delivery. So, we needed a c-section.

The c-section went well although it was so overwhelming to go from laboring to having a c-section in a matter of minutes. They pulled Addison out first which confused the nursing and NICU staff completely! Suddenly Baby B was now Baby A! I heard her faint cry and felt this overwhelming feeling of elation. I wanted to see her so badly! Next came Aidan, and in the commotion I didn’t hear him cry.

Nick went to take pictures and see the babies. He came back and showed me the pictures. Addison was perfect. Aidan was perfect, even wearing the tiniest oxygen mask that I’d ever seen. The nurse brought Addison over and I was able to give her a quick kiss before they took both babies to the NICU.

It felt like the stitching and cleaning up took forever. I was so ready to be back in my bed and out of the cold OR. I also was getting scared as I heard the doctors discussing all the meconium in the uterus from Aidan’s distress. They said it was an infection waiting to happen! Eventually, I was all finished and put back in my bed. I was given a morphine drip, but it did nothing for the pain I felt once the epidural wore off. After an hour of complaining about the pain, I was given more morphine and toradol in my IV. The toradol was a miracle drug!

My recovery was on track until 2 days after the c-section when I developed a hematoma under the left side of the incision. (A hematoma is a collection of old clotty blood under the skin that forms a hard lump.) The doctors continued to watch the hematoma for several days, and on Wednesday (the 4th day after the c-section), they decided to remove the staples over the hematoma and drain the collected blood. There was so much that it drained off my bed and all over the floor! They did that and cleaned the open wound extensively. It was really painful and I had several doses of morphine. It was packed with gauze and covered. The doctor explained to me that the gauze would be changed twice daily and the wound would remain open so that it could heal from the inside out.

It felt a lot better at first, but by the evening it was swollen and red again, and I had a 102 degree fever. A resident opened the wound area back up and cleaned it out again that evening. There was active bleeding somewhere that he couldn’t find, so he packed the wound with 4 times as much gauze to put a lot of pressure in the wound to stop the bleeding. It was not fun at all—morphine was again my friend. :) I also was started on IV antibiotics as the incision had become infected as well.

The infection kept my temperature up, so I was not able to hold the babies for several days. I could go see them and look at them through the isolettes in the NICU, but it was still so sad not to be able to touch and hold them. Finally, on Sunday, I was fever free for 48 hours, and I could hold my babies again!

I was discharged on Monday, after 13 days in the hospital, 9 days after the birth. My pulmonary embolism and DVT (which necessitated the continuous heparin IV) most likely led to the c-section complications. Once home, I had nurses come twice daily to change the wound dressing for 4 more weeks. The babies stayed 14 days in the NICU as feeders and growers before coming home.

Don't worry about it one bit. Compared to labor you can't even feel it. It's sooooo nice (it worked with my first son!)

i think im more scared of the unknown....

Congrats to you and your family

im amazed at how many vaginals Ive read!!! Im scared that if i do one vaginal the other will be c-section.... i dont know im supposed to schedule my c-sec for nov im kinda hoping i dont need it now with all the info u guys are giving me

Good luck with the rest of your pg and delivery.

i got a quetsion will they stopp ur labor if you tell them you dont want them too?

    Here is my story. :)

    Faith and Bridget Birth story

On December 4, 2003 at 0730am, I was admitted into the Wilford
Hall Medical Center, San Antonio Texas for the induction of my twin girls. I
was 39 weeks pregnant and beyond ready to have these babies. The head nurse
showed me to my room and started my IV. The OB GYN in charge of me that day
(Dr. Leach) came in and checked the position of the babies to make sure that
a vaginal delivery was possible. I was told my cervix was 3 centimeters
dilated and 80 % effaced. Both babies were head down and so he told the
nurse to start me on pitocin, at 0830am. The doctor I had been seeing pretty
much my whole pregnancy (Dr. Gordon) came in to talk to me and told me that
my cervix was ready for induction but that sometimes the body wont take and
will not go into labor, so if that were to happen to me I would be released
and told to come back in 3 days. I was not happy to hear this and it made me
    nervous.
With the pitocin now started, my husband and I were just sitting
around waiting for something to happen. I wasn’t feeling any pain and was
too nervous to sleep. So we just watched TV and waited. At about 12 pm I
started to feel the contractions and they were getting a little more regular
Since I was in a little bit of pain the doctor came in and checked my
cervix. I was now dilated to 4 centimeters and still 80% effaced. They
offered me the epidural or morphine through the IV. Because I was still
scared of the labor stopping and me having to leave, and I had heard that
the epidural can slow down labor I told them I wanted the morphine for pain.
That was the best stuff in the world. I remember them telling me it might
burn my arm a little bit and then I remember being warm and feeling the best
I had felt in about 6 months. I was so relaxed and sleepy so I took a nap. I
also don’t remember much of anything after they gave me the morphine. My
husband and friend (Jen) who was there told me I was talking about seeing
monkey’s climbing around the room and that I was ready to have my baby
monkey’s. All I know is I didn’t feel anymore pain and felt wonderful.
The next thing I remember is my back started hurting really bad.
I was having back labor and the morphine wasn’t helping it. It was about 4
pm now and I was dilated to 5 centimeters. They asked me if I wanted the
epidural and I said YES. Through out the pregnancy I had been very afraid of
the epidural. I couldn’t imagine a needle going into my back. I was more
scared of it than the actual labor and delivery. But when they did the
epidural I felt NOTHING. Not even the pressure in my back. IT was wonderful.
I had no more back pain (for a little while) and only felt the pressure from
my contractions. Since I still had some morphine in my body I was very
comfortable and went back to sleep.
I then was woken up with intense back pain again, around 7pm.
This time the pain wasn’t going away. I was in agony. The doctors and nurse
told me that the pain wasn’t labor but one of the babies in a bad position.
I tried everything I could to push the babies down or to the other side. ButBridget was on my left and she was in my ribs (the whole labor) and Faith
was getting ready to be born and had moved down so low into my pelvic that
it was pushing on my back. It was pretty bad pain and I was crying and
getting sick to my stomach. I had a wet cloth on my head for the rest of the
labor to try to help me with my nausea. I finally moved a little bit to the
side and the back pain went away, I was comfortable again and able to go
    back to sleep.
At about 9:30pm I caught myself pushing in my sleep. It felt
like I needed to go to the bathroom badly. I told the nurse that I needed to
go to the bathroom and she asked me if I was pushing. I said yes, it’s the
only thing that made me feel better. She told me to stop pushing because my
cervix could tear if it was still too early. I really tried not to push
anymore, but that didn’t last long. The doctor came in and checked me and
said we were 9 centimeters now and ready to go to the operating room. He
broke my water, which was a good feeling too.
By the time we got into the operating room and everything set up
I was fully dilated and ready to begin pushing, it was 10:15 pm. I remember
pushing through the contractions, there was no pain just lots of pressure. I
felt every contraction but was happy not to feel the pain. I was getting
very tired and the pushing wasn’t really getting us anywhere, I asked for
water and they let my husband feed me ice chips during the delivery, I don’t
know how I would have survived without that. Faith’s head would come out a
little bit and then slip right back past my cervix. After 2 hours of pushing
the doctors asked me if I wanted them to help me with the vacuum. I was so
tired and knew I had to do this all over again that I said YES. So the next
contraction I felt them put the vacuum on her head and then I pushed and
they pulled. Faith Lynne Kentch was born at 12:14am 5 December 2003. I felt
the pressure of her coming out and the ring of fire I have heard about so
much. It was an awesome feeling to push her out. Her apgar scores were 7, 9

The doctors then told me to rest during the next couple of
contractions because the second baby could take awhile to come out. I said
no way I wanted her out now. And with the next contraction I started pushing
Something was different about the contractions now though. I could feel all
the pain. I asked if they could turn up my epidural and the tech told me
that they had to turn it off during my delivery of Faith. I told them I
could feel the pain and they needed to turn it back on. At that time the
doctor broke Bridget’s water and I was pushing every time I felt a
contraction. I didn’t know how long I would be with her but I wasn’t going
to stop pushing. Then I felt her crown and it was a surprise to all of us in
the room. I pushed her out at 12:41 am. Bridget Leigh Kentch was born at
12:41 am on 5 December 2003. I felt everything with this delivery. The
epidural didn’t have time to take effect. So I had one natural and one pain
free delivery. Bridget’s Apgar score was 8, 9.
The girls roomed with me the whole time I was in the hospital. This hospital does not have a nursery. So I was a momma right away. They are
bathed and foot printed in the room where we stayed. We were all healthy and
doing great. They released us to go home 48 hours later on 7 December 2003.

We had our twins at 36 weeks exactly! Hard to believe now, but I've already forgotten how terrible the last few weeks of pregnancy were--just really uncomfortable! We spent 1 week on hospital bedrest because I was 1cm and the doc. was SUPER conservative (that was at 32 weeks), then I spent the next 3 on home bed rest (I would actually give anything to have a full day to sleep like I did then lol)! We had gone in a few time for false labor, and then the real deal happened one night just after dinner on the eve of the 36 week mark. I had a slow going labor to start--i wasn't progressing much. They gave me my epideral right away (which I was super nervous about as well, but I didn't even think it hurt). I had a dose of pitosin (sp?) to speed things along and started pusing about 2 hours later. We pushed for 1.5 hours and DD was born first...DS just 6 mins later. It was a very smooth process for us, we spent just 2 days in the hospital.

The lactation consultant spent quite a bit of time with us which was nice. Tandem feeding has been great for me, pm me if you want some more info!

    Happy pregnancy!

    CONGRATULATIONS!!!

I loved being pregnant with twins!!!

I arrived at the hospital at 6am and the girls were born at 8:02 and 8:03am!

    I delivered by scheduled c-section at 38wks 4 days.
2 wks before they were born both were head down and my ob told me that instead of the c-section that I could come in on the scheduled day (01-03-07) for an induction - well 4 days before the day my little acrobats flipped = so baby A was breech sitting indian style on my cervix and baby B was transverse! I ended up having a c-section.
it wasn't as bad as I had thought - the recovery was a little worse than my vaginal deliveries but as long as I kept the pain med in my system things were better!

  33. The girls and I checked into the hospital at 24 weeks and there we stayed till 33 weeks when I finally had to give in and let them take the girls via c-section. I optioned for the c-section because the girls couldn't seem to line up right in there. It was quite relaxed, DH went for lunch before and dinner after. We were over the moon when we made it to 30 weeks, so anything longer was just cake. The girls did all they needed to do and joined us at home 2.5 weeks later. Been a joy since. When people tell us how lucky we are, they really have no idea how lucky we truely feel to have two very content, healthy and happy girls in our lives.

I had my girls at 37 weeks 2 days. I was scheduled to go in for a fetal lung maturity test on Monday because I was HUGE and we wanted to make sure the girls could breathe on their own before doing a scheduled c-section. Half of me was excited I was going to get to meet them soon - the other half really wanted to just let nature take it's course. I was having a c-section regardless as Carley was breech - but atleast give them a chance to start on their own. I got my wish. The Saurday before the Monday - my water broke!!!! Now these are my first children so I've never experienced that before. I thought it would be a little trickle etc. NO - I felt something weird - it woke me up - and when I stood - GUSHER!! I have hardwood floors and it sounded so funny! I turned the light on - woke Dad - "Honey - my water just broke it was still coming out of me hitting the floor" not to be gross - it was comical. I had the worst headache of my life though. Got to the hospital they hooked me up to all of those moniters - everything was peachy except for my headache. It was making me throw up. My blood pressure was pretty high. Once they gave me the spinal for the c-section - my headache went away. I couldn't see anything either - the girls Dad took pictures of them being pulled out of me. It was so surreal. Them putting the girls in the incubators washing them etc. I thought is this really happening?? these are my babies! Natalie was 5lbs 15 oz and Carley was 5lbs 12 oz. They spent 4 hours in NICU as Carleys blood sugar was a little low - but after that - they were with me the whole time. I tried to nurse - but Carley was having a hard time latching on. I suplimented with formula - and pumped - They got breast milk for the first 5 weeks - I mostly pumped and fed them with bottles. But after 5 weeks - I quit. I was extremely exhausted and having to "stay up" and pump after the girls went to bed was taking a tol on me. I was producing enough for triplets! But I felt constantly tied to the pump - constantly hungry and didn't have too much help after the first 2 weeks - so I let myself dry up. OUCH! That's all I can say. Dolly Parton looked teeny compared to how I felt!!! I read alot when I was pregnant and was scared of the complications etc. with twins - but I knew in my heart that they would be strong and healthy. Also - when I was pregnant - I had gestational diabetes. It was mostly my age - but even following the diet to the T - I had to inject myself with insulin. I was scared to death of needles before that. Now I'm a pro. It wasn't that bad - and anything to make sure the girls were heallthy. The first 3 mos. were the hardest thing I've ever done in my life. Sleep deprived was the worst and the girls Dad was not very helpful. Everyday now gets a little easier and I get more confident etc. Now if my girls would just go back to sleeping through the night I would be an EXTREMELY happy Mom. Good luck and welcome! This was and is my bible - it helps so much - and to talk to Moms that are going through the same thing is such a help! :D

    hi congrats on the girls!!!!

i had just gotten off work the day the boys decided they were coming. i work 3rds so i was getting ready to lay down for a while, and my stomach started to hurt. i delt with it for a couple hours, it got really bad so we went to the er. i was fully dialated, the place quickly turned into a zoo. i got there at 11:30 and had my boys at 12:58 and 12:59 via c section kaden was 4 11 and kobe 4 1. i was 33wks. they had to go to a hospital 1 1/2 hrs away to the nicu for a couple weeks then to one closer about 45min away, they had to be in the nicu 6wks all together, came home exactly on my due date, but kobe had to stay an extra 5 days. they had apneas and bradys, that was the only problem. the nicu stay was the worst part, i dont wish that on anyone. right now we are dealing with sleep deprevation :) but at least they are home.
