I have a friend who's just discovered that she's pregnant with twins. She already has a four-year old and a 1 1/2 year old. She's getting a Mountain Buggy stroller as a present. But she asked me this morning whether I thought she should buy two single carry cots for it or just one double like this.

We didn't use either as they were too expensive for us. What did you find most useful (or would you have found best) when your twins were little babies (wow seems like a LONG time ago that!)?

    Many thanks

(Just in case the words aren't the same in the USA, a 'carry cot' or 'bassinet' is the thing like a moses basket that that you clip on a stroller so that newborns can lie flat)

That thing is very expensive!!!! If I could afford it I would buy the twin one BUT it won't last long - In my current financial state, I would just buy the stroller with regular seats that would last a long time and use the car seat attachment to attach the carseats to it while they are infants and not worry about the carry cots at all. Plus her 1 1/2 yr old could ride with one baby and she could carry the other baby in one of those sling things? CONGRATULATIONS!!!

WE used the carrier when they were little until they were big enough to go into the double stroller. "ideally" I would have loved the double but it does not seem practical and finances were limited. It does not seem like they would use it long and babies are all different. My two loved being close and would settle in and snuggle. My friends little ones HAD to be seperate not sure why. Just did not settle down when they were together.

One thing that did not occur to me was to have a single and a sling and that I could carry on and push one. In my head it was all or not. But it is nice also to have a single in case you get out with one (which is kind of nice).

Naomi and Luke had the Mountain buggy and had the double carry cot for it. That worked fine for us. We didn't have a problem with them getting in each others space, but I would think you could put a rolled up blanket down the middle if it was a problem.
In your friends situation the advantage I can see to having the two single carry cots is that then she could have one carry cot and one seat so that her older child could ride in the buggy too (with the second twin in a sling or if she's going out with only one). If she doesn't plan on doing that at all then I would say get the double one. Or just look at the price and go with the cheeper option.

The stroller comes with normal seats, this is an extra attatchment you can get for when they are small so they can lie flat more comfortably. It makes it like an old style pram-a bed on wheels.

Many thanks. I relayed what you each suggested to my friend and she also says to say thank you!

Yeah I think the double snap and go is wonderful, but someone has given her a Mountain Buggy (and once the kids get a bit older it is a wonderful buggy).
