I usually put on Sesame Street or Baby Einstein for the girls but I think it's time to expand the variety! What do your girls like to watch? My neighbor said they would like the Doodlebops. Only problem is we don't have the Disney Channel. I wonder if it's worth getting. What else is on Disney that they might like? They seem to enjoy shows with a lot of music.

    Thanks!

What they watched between 1 and 2 changed because as they get closer to 2, they become much more aware and will end up actually sitting through full length movies like Nemo a million times in a row. My girls like Tigger & Pooh, Little Einsteins, and the little shorts that come on Disney Channel like Emily Young, Daniel Cook, Go Baby. They may have a trial period to offer you. Look into that.

We love Noggin. Do you have that station? My girls love Little Bear, Franklin, Wonderpets, Barney, Dora...shows like that. We never watch anything on Disney FWIW.

We did PBS and Noggin as well. It was not until the past few months that we have done playhouse disney. Tabitha found it one day by hitting the wrong numbers on the remote. I have no idea it was there. LOL.

I don't have girls, but my 2 yr olds love the Wonder Pets and Backyardigans. I think they come on Noggin, but you can also get the same episodes on DVD. They also still like baby Einstien.

My girls have a few favorites.

    On PBS:
    Sesame Street
    The Big Comfy Couch
    Barney

    On Noggin:
    Wonder Pets
    Backyardigans

At night we will put on PBS Sprout for the Good Night show.

In the morning they ask for Elmo and also Molly the doll from Big Comfy Couch. Later in the day they will ask for Pablo from the Backyardigans.

Mine really only watch elmo's world. They like music more than tv. Here's a thought though, how about getting a dvd of the shows that way you don't have to subscribe to cable. I'm pretty sure all those shows are available. Just in case you don't want to pay every month. ;)

Does Disney still show the Wiggles? My boys were all about the Wiggles from age 1yo-2yo. After that, they had grown tired of the Wiggles. The Doodlebops has never done much for them or for me. If you don't want to pay for Disney, Nickelodeon has their Nick Jr. shows in the morning. Blue's Clues might impress them. Also, don't forget the PBS shows like Curious George which was a big hit in my house for a while. Teletubbies and BoohBah is actually geared toward the 1-2yo age group. Lately, my guys have not been interested in TV which I suppose is a good thing.

Little Einsteins, Elmo, Sesame Street, and Wiggles around here....

I get DVDs from our local library so we can watch when we want to...(usually the evening/late afternoon hours when things get crazy).

They liked Baby Einstein until just recently.

Mine wouldn't really sit still for TV at that age, it's only been about the last 6 weeks or so that they've really watched any TV at all, but now their faves are Backyardigans and Dora. My husband feels cool watching Backyardigans since the music director is from one of his favorite bands. B)

We did only Baby Einstien until 18 months. They still like the animal ones at almost 3 years old!
after 18 months I got some other DVDs--we only get 2 TV channels!
There is a BBC show called "Where's Boo?" that is really good, it's also short and comes with like 9 different episodes on the DVD, they liked that alot and I felt like they learned a lot from it.

We have one Elmo's world DVD that they liked around 2 (they learned it all by heart) but now never want to see.

We have two Barney DVDs that they love, the newer one has an option to choose how long you want them to watch.

We have the Seasame Street 25th Anniversary Musical Celebration which we all love, it's mostly songs and they dance to it.

And they are Dora and Diego FANATICS now but that didn't start until about 30 months. (Last weekend I was working at the kitchen table and they were under the table and they said, "Mom under here is the cloud forrest and we're tapires. Tapires live in the cloud forrest so this is our home." If I hadn't seen the Diego episode that is from I would have started filling out their Harvard applications!)

now closer to 2 they LOVE caillou. They also like Little Einsteins, Baby Einsteins DVD, and Signing times DVD. Closer to 1 they liked Wiggles and Elmo more. You don't need Disney, PBS has a lot of good shows. They also seem interested in Dragon Tales on PBS.

Also to add to the PP, I don't think you need to get Disney. We have, like, every channel known to humankind, and we never turn on Disney for them. Everything they watch is either on Noggin/Nick Jr. or PBS/Sprout. There are LOTS of things just on those channels alone.

OMG that show is horrible! I agree it is a little disturbing but I think Teletubbies is too but all of my kids have liked that show as well. My twins like Blues Cluea and Blues Room also Dora, Diego, and most of the Nick Jr shows.
