    hi everyone..
my twins will be 5 mths on sept 2.. my twin boy is already turning over on his stomach at night to sleep and I am freaking out because of sids.. does this happen to anyone yet and how do you do it ? just let him turn.. he is waking himself up and hitting his head on the mobile trying to turn. I have breathable bumpers on the crib..
I am just so afraid of him on his belly.
my twin girl just wants to talk at 3 AM and it takes her about an 1 1/2 hr to settle back to sleep.. is this just a phase?
    thanks ladies

    Hey there!

I think that the "rule" is, that once they can roll over on their own, they are ok to sleep on their bellies.

I've always felt if they can roll themselves onto their belly, they can turn their heads or wake up if they aren't breathing.
I think he'll be fine! It's very hard to keep them on their backs if they don't want to be!

My ped told me with my first son that as long as they can roll over they can sleep on their tummies. Most babies seem to prefer it. As for your little girl---I sure hope that is a phase too! Maybe it's time to CIO? Good luck!

Ditto! We follow the same rule, if you can roll over, you can sleep on your tummy. One of my boys ALWAYS sleeps on his tummy. If your son can roll on his tummy by himself, he can move himself if he can't breathe. I used to feel the same way and it would freak me out to walk in and see the boys sleeping on their tummies, but, if that's how their comfy, there really isn't much you can do to stop them. With you having breathable bumpers, I wouldn't be too concerned. :)

thank you ladies. I feel better about it now..
I think once my little girl rolls over she might like it better too. she still gets up and wants to party from 3-4 and then she goes back to sleep. I am very lucky right now they both sleep well. it does get easier..
for all you ladies that encouraged me on telling me its gets easier... Thank you.... you are all right.
they are so much fun since they can smile and it just makes me smile more now.. its so rewarding when they start to notice you .
    ;)

My ds is a tummy sleeper, too.
Our ped said the same thing if he can roll over than he is ok to sleep on his tummy.

I would try not to worry, once mine could turn themselves over I just let them sleep that way. By then they are strong enough to lift their heads & move around so the danger of sids is a bit lower. They do sleep much better when they can find their own positions!

One of my DD's just started sleeping on her belly this week. For 2 days, DH and I would roll her back over (since we were on vacation we were sharing a bed with them), but that was completely pointless. Now that we are home and she is back in her crib, she is sleeping on her belly and I'm trying not to check on her every 2 minutes :)
