Turning cribs to beds. UGH!

I have to do it this weekend because poor Peyton fell out of the crib again and smacked his forehead on the hardwood floor of his room. Eli has fallen, too. But this is the first time any of them got physically hurt. So I need to clear out a dresser in my room and put the stuff from their dresser in that 1. Then take their dresser downstairs so that they will only have toys in their room and nothing to climb. I just was hoping to make it till their birthday and buy twin beds then.

Ouch! I am so sorry! But thank god they are okay! I know it has to be hard decision to do the transition from crib to toddler/twins bed. I have twins g/b. My son Justin is starting to "climb" on couch and lazy chair. They'll be 15 months old this Sunday, Dec 30th (Bday is Sept. 30, 2006). I have heard from another post about getting crib tent. I am wondering if that will hold off a few more months? As I was reading this -- make me nervous! They'll be 18 months by March 2008 and if this is a hint that my son may or may not climb out of his crib this early? I am curious too!

PS. Justin get all kind of bruises too from a simple fall and I would LOVE to get a football helmet on him! My daughter, Rianna hasn't had any major fall yet so far. <wink>

It's a tough call at that age. I know there are some who successfully transitioned at 20 months and hopefully they'll give you some advice if you're certain that's what you want to do. Personally, I'd tent them.

Trevor climbed out at 15 months and Trent immediately started putting a foot up on the rail to copy. They were already climbing the furniture so it wasn't like they gave no hint that they might climb out of the crib but I never saw them halfway climb out. With the tents in place, I plan to keep my guys in cribs until they're 3. They share a room and I can't imagine them ever taking a nap again if they were loose in the room together.

I would get crib tents! The way I see it, if they don't "get" "stay in the crib", how are they going to "get" "stay in bed? The crib tents make things safe and are a huge sanity saver!

I totally agree with Sharon. I would definitely try the crib tents before making the decision to putting them in regular beds.
