When I put my boys on their tummy they rub their heads back and forth and then start to cry. Even when I put them on a tummy time mat they still just seem to hate it. I dont know if I should just leave them for a while longer or if I need to go ahead and move them. Any comments on this?

Mine didn't like tummy time much either, but I would still try it with them several times/day. I would put toys next to them and in front of them to see if that helped, sometimes it would sometimes it wouldn't. I would leave them there, even through fussing, but if they really started to cry , then I would roll them over. I would try it a few times a day. Eventually they started to like it more.

    Good luck

my girls hated tummy time at that age - unless it was on our chests. so we did that a lot. they still don't like tummy time much now - the difference is they can roll themselves over now. so tummy time usually consists of me putting them on their tummies & them rolling immediately onto their backs & me putting them back on their tummies. i think they think it's a game. :D anyway, my doc said not to worry too much about it before 3 months old. as the PP said i would just keep trying a couple times a day for as long as they're willing - even if it's only 30 seconds, that's fine.

seems to be the concensus but mine hated it as well :) we did it lots of times up to 10x a day even if for 1-2 minutes at a time.
It really helped us for either me or DH to lay on the floor with them, make funny faces, sing songs etc so that they would hold their neck up and try to see us. Toys are good, things that make sounds etc.

you might try tummy time with one at a time as well?

Mine HATED (I don't believe hate is a strong enough word for how they felt about it) tummy time. We would put them on our chests, we would hold them up on their bellies on the back of the couch so they could look out the window. As they got older, they would tolerate a little more time each time. By the time they started rolling over (which I can't remember when that was, I'll have to check our baby book) then they did not care too much about tummy time, they seemed to do it on their own then.

    Mine did that too.

I just figure a little bit at a time is okay. My guys didn't get more comfy with it until closer to 4 months when they developmentally were stronger.

Mine spent time on our chests when they were small, mainly on DH´s, so DS learned really quickly to hold himself up. I have to admit I never really did proper tummy time with mine until they were 3 months - no reason, it just sort of happened that way.

DS has always coped well tummy down but DD isn´t so keen. Even today when I put her face down she´ll roll over immediately and will keep doing so if I try to put her back! She takes her time with everything so until she wants to stay tummy down, we´ll just have to let her get on with it!

One of mine loved it (she slept on her tummy too) and one hated it. DD that hated it didn't get it much because I hated the screaming and crying that went along with it. Now she wears a helmet to reshape her flat head. Go figure.

Sometimes mine would do that when they first started. I'd slouch down while sitting on the couch and have one on my chest. That way they were on their tummy [kind of at and angle] and still worked their neck and back muscles w/o actually having to do tummy time. Sneaky sneaky mommy ;)
