Does anyone babies like tummy time??? Everytime I put my girls on there tummies they scream and cry. I know tummy time is important, but can't stand to hear them cry in frustration. Should I let them fuss or should I try to get tummy time another way???

We did tummy time a couple of ways to make it more fun for the ladies. Sometimes we put them on our chests so they could look at us. Sometimes we used the boppy pillow and laid them over it will a toy or activity mat below so there was something interesting to look at. When they got used to those ways, we'd lay them directly on the activity mat (again because there were cool things to look at). Start off slow and they will start to enjoy is more. GL!

I had one that didn't mind it and one that didn't like it. I just put her on her tummy for a couple of minutes here and there until she got more used to it. I never let her freak out though.

We started tummy time at birth thinking that it would help them get used to it and they wouldn't complain. WRONG. Right around the time they realized they could push up, they decided to hate it.

My girls never liked tummy time so we would so do it every now and then.. They can roll on their own now and dd1 stays on her tummy and dd2 could care less. Just give some time and they will come around for you.

I don't think most babies like tummy time. Amy tolerated it OK, but Sarah absolutely hated it and would start crying within 1 minute. We tried to do it a few times a day but just for a few minutes at a time. It also helps (though I know this is hard when you have two babies!) if you lie on your back and hold the baby on your tummy, instead of putting him/her on the floor.

Sarah was a late crawler (10 months -- she pulled up before she crawled), but I don't know if it was because she rarely did tummy time. More likely, I think she hated tummy time for the same reason she wasn't interested in crawling -- she just preferred sitting up. She learned to sit at about 5 months and after that, anytime we tried to put her on her tummy, she somehow wound up sitting up.

My two hate it. DD1 cries and doesn't even lift her head yet (another thing to worry about) and DD2 has figured out how to roll over to her back already! Could these two be anymore different from each other?

Mine hated it when they were little too. But you've gotten great advice from pps - try on your chest, on the boppy, with cool stuff to look at... You can also play around with timing (some babies do better on an empty stomach). And short spurts are ok. If you can get in a bunch of 30-second sessions in a day, that's fine!

Katie loves it! She pushes on her elbows and goes over to her back!

My DD loves it. It makes her happier to prop her on her elbows. I jsut take them and push them under her chest then she is higher and can see her. Also you could try putting them on the couch an sit on the floor so you are at eye level and talk to them. That helps my DS who isn't so happy with it. Also put out toys for them to look at.

DS loves tummy time, but that's how he slept in the NICU for the first two weeks. DD despises it - when she doesn't scream bloody murder, she spits up all over the mat. Going to try the boppy suggestion from PP, maybe it will relieve some of the pressure on her stomach.
