when i put my kids on a tummy mat with a small bolster, they just rub their faces on the mat and never actually lift up.
is this normal? i put them in front of one another.

eta...one just lays there and the other pushes with his legs but just ends up with his face in the ground.

I think that sounds normal. Their adjusted age is still pretty young. I always tried dangling toys in front of them to encourage them to look up.

Yep. I found my boys lifted their heads more if they were laying on boppies facing each other with books down below.

Yes I remember at first mine always had their faces in the mats. They have to strengthen those muscles!

Yep, sounds normal to me too!! The only way they would even try to lift their heads was if I was laying down in front of them singing or being goofy!!!

Yeap, totally normal. Gotta build core strength in order to lift their heads and the only way to do that is to keep going.

Yep, I agree they need to build muscle strength. It will come!

One of mine lifts his head and legs, like a body surfer, during tummy time. The other just kicks her legs, with head down, and cries within one minute. Tummy time is not a favorite sport around our house. I remember with my daughter, she didn't lift her head for a while either. She was premature too. So, I think your situation sounds completely normal. Don't stress!
