    My babies do not like tummy time. I'm trying to think of news ways to get them interested like placing them in front of a mirror while they do it. They have an activity gym that they enjoy while lying on their backs but not so much on their tummies.

    I'd love to hear any suggestions you might have on how to make tummy time fun! Any toys worth buying? Thanks:)

    Mine really didn't like tummy time in those early months either.
    A good way to get them used to the idea is to have them on your chest while you are reclined or laying down, that way they feel more comfortable & safe :)
    The mirror is a good idea as well!
    Otherwise it is just kind of a waiting game of trying every day until they start enjoying it more on their own!

    We had a couple of good things for tummy time one was out of a catalogue (sorry Im terrible at spelling) it was a floor mat that you put water in and it had floating sea creatures in it they loved it. Another thing they love was a plastic bottle like a small coke bottle with rice in it all of my kids have loved that. Keep with it and they will love it in time.

    I did the chest thing with DD as she started lifting her head late and I was worried, but nothing beats tummy time on the floor. I know we were late starting (3 months), because we only gave tummy time on the bed at first. Until 5.5 months both still hated it, screaming their little heads off after 5 minutes. Then DS got used to it because he started rolling to his tummy by himself so he was stuck there. He still hated it for 2 weeks then it went better... I put DD on her tummy more so it wouldn't happen, so when she finally rolled by herself she was fine on her tummy.

    I'm so glad I'm past that stage... I put their on their tummy 3 times a day for 5-10 minutes for 2 months and it took that long to get them used to it.

    Mine didn't like it at first either. I had an activity mat and mine were the same as yours, they preferred to lie on their backs. I just put them on their bellies for a few minutes, several times a day. I don't have any suggestions for toys, eventually my girls LOVED the activity mat, that was the best toy for us.

    I just had Early Intervention here to evaluate Ellie because I was worried about her neck muscles. She said tummy time is the best for her issues. They aren't too into tummy time yet. She also suggested lying them on their sides facing eachother. I tried it and they loved it. I figure I'll just keep trying tummy time every day and hope they get used to it. Some days are better than others. They have to be in the right mood. One other thing they suggested is when they start to fuss on their tummies, is to help them roll to their backs. Not to just pick them up or roll them over yourself. That way, they'll learn to roll on their own and they won't expect you to pick them up each time they cry. It makes sense.

    My babies hate tummy time too. I have several play mats and activity gyms, but usually the just cry. Let me know if you find something that works.

    I put a boppy on the floor w/ some toys in the middle and then I put the babies on the outside of the boppy, propped up on it, facing each other*. They seem to like it. You do have stay close, or prop up the skinny side of the boppy, so they don't roll off...

    Airplane is also a big hit around here.

    * Here's a picture.
