The skin on my stomach is so stretched out, that at first I thought the itching was caused by that, but now I see that there is a rash all over my stomach. My stretch marks are so bad that i didn't notice it until the texture of my skin changed a lot. It's only where my stretch marks are, and it's not like blisters; just rough red patches. Has anyone else had something like this? I put some hydracortisone on it, but it didn't help at all; I lotion constantly, and that helps for a second, but I think only because it's cool. I'm really trying not to itch because that makes my stretch marks worse, but this is driving me bonkers. Is there any I can do to get some relief?

google PUPPS and see if the rash matches the pictures. I had horrible itchy skin on my belly almost my whole pregnancy and the only thing that worked was the steroids (like prednisone) my OB perscribed. Good luck!

I agree it could be pupps, a rash isn't usual, itchy skin is but not the rash part!

When I was pregnant with my son, about a week before he was born, I broke out in hives...my OB at the time said that I was having an allergic reaction to the baby and told me to take benadryl and use calamine lotion. My whole stomach looked as if someone had set it on fire, like burnt skin, if you could imagine. She said that it was from having an overdue baby and that he was on his way...go figure....

That's how mine looks; like I've been burned really bad. I'm thinking about calling my OB's emergency #, even though an itchy belly is hardly an emergency, but it keeps getting worse. I didn't sleep all last night; this is way worse than poison ivy.

Call for sure...I waited until I drew blood and then my ex got concerned and HE called the doctor. He thought I was going to claw the baby out. Little did he know, I was on my way!

I had the exact same thing while I was pregnant with the twins. I coated the rash in hydrocortisone then lotion and then aquaphor. And sometimes it helped if I put gauze on top of it. I also did ice. I tried everything. It was terrible! Take some benadryl as well. My dr said it was the skin just being stretched to the max. It sucked! I'm sorry you are having to go through it. Go see if you dr has a magic cure for you and let us know! :)

sounds like puppps to me... i had it really bad, looked like i had some sort of chemical burn on my belly. i used benadryl to help me sleep, oatmeal baody wash which soothed it some, and calamine lotion which stopped the itch long enough for the benadryl to take effect. steroid creams work well but i didnt get any... i figured screw it i'm scratching. then i figured out why dogs legs shake when you scratch their tummies. :) heres a link with more info: http://dermatology.about.com/cs/pregnancy/a/puppp.htm

I had the same thing...it showed up about 1-2 weeks before I went into labor. It was awful, so I know what you all are going through. The OB said the "cure" for it was to have the babies. But, even after I had them, my belly itched for several weeks. I kept my belly lotioned to the max and also put a bunch of hydrocortisone on it!

Sorry you are going through this! Hugs to you and hang in there!

Well, my Dr said it sounds like PUPPS and basically recommended the same things that you all have. I've been putting benadryl cream on it and that has helped some what. This has given me another reason to have these babies soon!
