My guys are really starting to wriggle and attempt to climb up, around, and out of their infant tub. We wash them in the infant tub inside of the big tub. I'm wondering, is it time to switch to the big-people tub, and only put a few inches of water in it? They both sit up great ... what do you guys do?

my girls were just about 9 months when we switched into the regular tub. I wanted to wait until i was absolutely sure they wouldn't topple over.. They love it!

We haven't used the baby bath tub in a few months. We have a bath ring that we use instead. I'm not brave enough to just let them sit in there without the ring.
Here is the link to my post on my blog that has pictures of our bath ring. I know there are some that attatch to the side of the tub that are a little easier to use also. Or you could try just putting them in the tub with a little bit of water.

I ditched the baby tub when they could sit up well unsupported. I never had two the same age in the tub though; one has always been old enough and steady enough to need slightly less attention when I gave them a bath together. I'd try one at a time in the big tub to see how they do.

I agree with Jen620...try them out one at a time in the tub. With DD #1 I started just bathing her in the sink at 5 months when she could sit up pretty good, but I had my hand on her at all times, so it is a little different with two.

We used the baby bathtub until they were about 6 months when they could sit well unassisted. Then we moved to the bath seat in the adult tub. They were in the bath seat until about 11 months old when we moved to sitting them in the adult tub with about two inches of water. I usually bathe them together but DH will only bathe them one at a time.

We ditched the baby tub at about 8 months when they could sit up pretty well but mostly they were just really outgrowing the baby tub. I tried the bathtub with a bit of water and they just didnt like it. So I bought a transition tub from One Step Ahead and that way I can bathe both at the same time (I am home alone on some nights) and not worry that I couldnt keep a hand behind them all the time. They love it.

Recently. First I did them one by one in the sitting position of the tub. Now they go together, including my oldest in about 2-3 inches of water ... they love to splash around. I take all the stuff into the bathroom, dry one, let him/her wait and get the other one out.

Cool, I think we will ditch the tub then!

I'll have to check out that tub by One Step Ahead, since I usually bathe them all alone and I'd be worried something would happen ...

We knew our girls were ready when they were also starting to wriggle out of the baby tub and try to sit up. Their feet were hanging over and to be honest, we felt it would be sooooooo much easier for us to bathe them together. They were about 9 or 10 months when we finally converted them to the tub. We started out with just enough water to cover their legs but dh and I are always giving them baths together. As they got better and better at being used to the big tub (which didn't take long) we have put more water in the tub (up the middle of their bellies) but if I were on my own I guess I would continue to keep the level fairly low. It sounds to me like your guys are ready. GL, I found it (and still find it) to be a lot of fun to bathe them together.

We got rid of the infant tub when they started trying to climb out, which was relatively late -- around 9-10 months, I think. By that time, they were basically overflowing the edges anyway. We had no problem switching to the big tub, although DH and I usually bathe them together, which definitely helps. I felt more comfortable bathing them alone when they were about 14 months and could manage to sit down most of the time.

I'm so glad you posted this, i was wondering this myself. I recently started bathing both kids in the infant tub (in the big tub) and it's getting a little snug...but since I am in the bathroom alone, I'm scared to bath them together in the big tub.

I know awhile back someone had posted about using a laundry basket in the big tub, seemed like an interesting idea.
