I am having identical boys that share a placenta and have a very thin membrane separating them. I had my 28 week u/s last Friday and they are measuring 2 lbs 9 ozs and 2 lbs 8 ozs. Everything looks fabulous. They are only seeing me every four weeks for an u/s although they said if my dr okayed it they would see me every two weeks.

I have read that if TTTS occurs it is usually before this. Can I stop worrying now?

    Thanks

Well, I'll tell you to stop worrying, but I know that TTTS can occur up to the very last minute. The key point is that you are already at 28 wks, so from now on, whatever happens your babies have a great chance that they will come out unharmed. :hug99:

My boys also shared a placenta with a thin separating membrane. I was monitored with u/s every 2 weeks at the peri's to watch for TTTS. It can still happen, but you're far enough along now that if you had to deliver they would most likely be just fine... They said my boys had a bit of TTTS at the very end. They were born 2 weeks after my last u/s at the peri's (at 35 weeks 4 days). That u/s showed them to be the same size, but at birth (2 weeks later) they weighed 5lbs1oz and 6lbs3oz. One also was very pale and the other VERY red because they didn't share red blood cells equally- the red twin got more red blood cells and the pale one got less (due to TTTS- I'm told)... The pale twin has to have extra iron supplements until his red blood cell count increases. My little red man has only in the last month returned to a "normal" skin color.. Good luck and try not to worry- you've made it this far without any issues, so you're in good shape!!

If your Dr didnt find any sign of TTTS then you should be fine and no worry. just keep think postive and pray!

You also should ask Dr about TTTS and few questions...write down questions on paper, bring it w you to dr office.

My wife is preggy same as you. we just has screening test as high risk preggy dr last week..

Dr, mentioned few risk such as TTTS etc...we are waiting for RESULT next week.. my wife is about to nervous wreck cuz we couldnt wait any LONGER to find a result.

i think she will have ammino 15th week.

She now 12 weeks. A and B babies has little different weight/measured.

we agreed to do C section to be safe.

Pray for you and health babies!

I wish I could tell you that you can stop worrying, but we're mom's and we always worry! Truthfully, TTTS can appear at any time, it's just if it appears before 27 weeks, they may do the surgery to get the babies to a point where they can be delivered, and if it happens after 27 weeks, they usually just deliver.

The great news is that if it's discovered, your babies can be born and probably be ok - it's a great milestone! I had a party at 28 weeks, seriously. And I did relax knowing this.

However, I worried every day until I delivered, and even with TTTS, we made it to 38w4d. My babies had a one pound difference in weights. But, size discordance isn't the major indicator in TTTS, fluid levels for each baby, doppler readings and visible bladders are better indicators. If those are ok, then you are stable. But, I would encourage you to be monitored for any changes.

Also, I would take it easy, do as much bedrest as you can, drink lots of water, boost your protein intake, and eat plenty of calories. I did 21 weeks of bedrest, and we didn't need surgery and I have two healthy 3 month olds! Ward off TTTS - you can do it!

Good luck - keep us posted
