Trying an earlier bedtime

Yesterday evening one of the girls was really fussy. She didn't nap well during the day, so we just decided to put them both to bed at 7:30 instead of the usual 8:30. They slept until 3 a.m. which is their normal time to wake to eat. Then they slept nearly an hour later than usual and got up at 7 a.m. Tonight they had a bottle at 6:00. I saw one baby yawn at 6:30. So, just for kicks, I put them in jammies and just put them to bed even though they napped well today. It's now 7:00. They've been in bed nearly 10 minutes and there hasn't been a peep. I wonder when they will wake to eat and how early they will be up in the morning. I guess a weekend is a good time to experiment with the sleep schedule. I'll update you tomorrow and let you know how the night went.

That's awesome!! I can't wait until my girls are doing the same but they are just 2 months old.

Mine are nearly 3 months adjusted, so you aren't too far off. Of course, we don't know if it worked yet. :) Still no sounds from their room. I joked with DH that maybe he turned the monitor off without telling me.

the earlier bedtime sometimes works....mine used to go to bed at 6pm! they would sleep until 6am too. there were days that they were just so overstimulated they were done and just wanted to go to bed...i think they even went to bed at 5:30pm sometimes.

    good luck!

My girls had a 6pm bedtime till just recently, and sometimes they went down as early as 530 if they took crappy naps or were fussier than usual.
Hope it works out for you!!

Mine are sleeping between 6:45 - 7 now for about a week. They can't stay up any longer and their 3rd nap has finally got constant. So I think it has to do with age. My older ds started a 6:45 - 7 bedtime around 5 months and kept it until he was over 2 yrs.

I hope it works for you.

About 4 mo mine started giong to bed at 7 and sleeping until 7. Often they would get up once to eat especailly DS. That was teh difference for us. They were happier to go to bed early. Good luck

Well that DID NOT work. It was the worst night we've had in weeks. The girls had been getting up only one time before so I don't know what possessed me to mess with a good thing. I never got even a three hour stretch of sleep all night. <sigh>
