How many times did you make a trip to L&D through out your pregnancy? I went last night for the second time for contractions that were two minutes apart, now after the first time I swore I would not go back until it was time to have the babies. I got home last night it had been a fairly easy day at work and sat down to relax and put my pj's on and had a contraction it didn't hurt so I went about my business 5 minutes later another one and so on, so I decided to start timing them and see what was going on. I laid on my left side nothing I drank some water nothing and with all this I just kept thinking my DH thinks I am full of it...so after two hours and now they were getting more intense and two minutes apart I went to L&D and sure enough they were big and close so I got IV ASAP and they looked for another hour and nothing getting more intense at this point I am already considering asking for the epidural, so here comes the tribudaline....nothing and another IV bag....nothing....2nd shot and finally they stopped and by midnight I was tucking myself to bed on the couch. When they released me they game me a script for a UTI and I said that nothing had been mentioned of me having one and she said the Dr. just wants to make sure this isn't the cause, she said some ppl get them and never have any signs or symtoms so go home take your pills and drink water. I need to make it another 3 weeks, DS has his open heart next Tuesday and I need to be able to give him all of me for a good two weeks...although knowing him he will be up by Friday as if nothing happened. I just wish I could stop time so I can get through this, I feel like I am failing me, my son and these babies. Isnt there anything they can give me to garuntee me three or four more weeks? Sorry so long!

I had 4 visits to L&D, and the kids were born at the 5th one. I had a lot of problems with contractions ... but they usually came due to being dehydrated ... once they gave me the IV, They usually stopped.

But at 28 weeks in L&D, they gave me a prescription for Terbutaline, and I had to take it every 6 hours, without fail. It definitely helped. They told me to go off it at 36weeks, and then the babies came 3 days later.

Maybe talk to your doc about medication to help control the contractions?

    Good luck!

None, if I was in doubt I always went to my OB's office, I guess I never had an emergency at night, lol!!!

Two visits to L & D, they were born on the third (scheduled) visit! They were able to stop my contractions both times - I was about 33 weeks at the first and 36 weeks at the second (however, this one was caused by a car accident). We delivered at 38 weeks.

Four total- the fourth was when my water had actually broken at 35w6d.

The others were around 28 weeks, and then 30-32ish? Two were for contractions and a third was for when I passed out on the potty ( ) and fell- which then caused a bunch more contractions!!

Other than medication, definitely keep yourself so hydrated it's not even funny. The nurses all said that the majority of women w/ PTL issues come in and their pee is bright orange. I took it seriously and they always seemed surprised how clear everything was when I came in!!

3 total. Once at 33 weeks, once at 35 weeks, and "the day" 2 days after the 2nd trip. The 1st two trips I got shots of terb, and they sent me home.
