Triplet poetry?

Discussion in 'General' started by AubynandAshtynsMommy, Apr 21, 2008.

Hi! I am looking for poetry about triplets for our Tulsa Mother's of Multiples (TMOM) end of year banquet. Does anyone have any or know a website that has triplet or multiples poetry? Thanks. :)

  2. Thanks. :)
I found twin ones as well. I didn't see any triplet ones out there. I thought maybe there was a triplet website or something that you trip parents would know about. It's not like triplet parents have their hands full all the time. It should be easy to find time to write poetry. Ha ha. Just kidding!

I wrote all of the following. The first one was submitted to a publisher as a picture book, but got rejected, and I haven't had time to re-submit it.

Feel free to use them, as long as you credit me as the author.

We are triplets! - by Ruth Koontz

My name is Kate and I have two brothers

Each one looks just like the other

They are twins that is true

But each of them is my twin too.

How is that you ask of me?

Because we’re triplets (that means 3)

Triplets are 3 babies that are born together

Sharing a birthday, and more, forever.

We shared a crib when we were tiny.

We shared the pants that covered our hineys.

We shared our socks, sometimes our shoes,

We shared mommy’s lap and dad’s lap too!

We share our flu, our colds and such.

Mom doesn't like that very much.

We share our fun, we share our toys

We share our sad and we share our joys

Being a triplet is sometimes tough

Sometimes my brothers are just too rough

They break my dolls and that makes me sad

They pull my hair and that makes me mad

And if you ask them they will say

I’m bossy and mean to them every day.

And sometimes we aren’t in the mood to share

We fight and wish the other two weren’t there.

But I love my brothers and they love me

We play together, as a group of three

We ride bikes, and we play ball

We jump on the trampoline till we fall.

We laugh, we sing, we pile on Dad,

We blame each other when we are bad

When we get older we know we’ll be

Forever friends this group of three.

    And

    The tears, the fears
    The worries, the joys
    Will they be girls
    Or will they be boys?
    Or Two of one and
    one of the other?
    I’m going to be
    a triplet mother!

    And

It is the end of the day, three babies are sleeping
I sit in my chair, quietly weeping.
I am not crying because I’ve had no sleep
Or three times the laundry is piled waist deep.
I am not crying because I look three times the mess,
Three times the Spit up, part of my everyday dress.
I am not crying because I’ve no time at all
To soak in a bath or shop at the mall
Too tired to do dishes and forget even sweeping
I will sit in my chair and enjoy my weeping.

I am crying because it’s the end of the day
three babies are sleeping, it’s quiet this way
It’s time to look back on the way the day went
Three times the fun, look what heaven has sent!
Sure it is hard, we knew from the start
But the hard things get softened by the extra love in our heart
Three little babies soft cuddly and sweet
Six little hands, and six little feet
Six little arms that hug me real tight
And three little mouths to kiss me goodnight
Three times the laughter and ten times the fun
Pity the parents that only have one!
The joy that I feel as I watch my three sleep
Is what makes my heart ache, and makes my eyes weep

    Thanks ladies!

The "Kate" poem was written because Kate got a little ticked off at me for writing a rhyming book for her brothers called "Steam Trains". Sadly that was rejected by the one publisher I sent it to as well, but I need to keep trying, but I just haven't had the time.

I think you should try to submit them again!
