Dh & I have been thinking of getting the twins tricycles for their birthday next month (they'll be 2). I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations? I've seen the Kettler ones, which are amazing....but out of our price range. Then we were at Target today & they had some Radio Flyer ones.

I let the kids try them out at the store (which they LOVED) but dd took a little tumble. She was ok & tried to hop right back on......I think she cried harder when we left. But I wonder if they're just a little wobbly?

    thanks!!

I highly recommend getting one with some kind of parent pushbar, like this one.

We have Kettlers, but not the really expensive ones. This is the one we have.

I would NOT get the radio flyer fold up one. It's very narrow. We got it for my oldest and he was always tipping over. Piece of junk.

For this past Christmas, we got the twins each one of these Schwinn Roadsters. They are AWESOME! We found them at Costco for about $48 bucks I think. They are a little big. The kids still can't quite reach the pedals enough to pedal. But they zoom all over the place pushing along with their feet and they hardly ever tip over. I've had so many compliments on what nice trikes they are.

We had the Kettlers, and I highly recommend them! They are very sturdy and easy for the kids to ride. They are worth the extra $$'s. Also, think about this, if she fell over on the flat smooth ground at Target, how will she do on uneven and rough ground outside.

Kettler makes a less expensive version of called Kiddio's, we got ours at TRU ( I don't see them on the website but know that is where they were from). You might want to check Kiddio out ( I think they were more around the $40 range but still great quality although we didn't get nor need the ones with the adult handles).

We got Radio Flyer Twist Trykes and love them. They turn from trikes into bigwheels when they get older. We do have blocks on the wheels for them to reach the pedals though!

We also have the twist trikes and love them. Our boys got them for their 3rd birthday and still couldn't pedal yet. 2 may be a bit young to ride on their own.

We have the Kiddio trikes and the kids love them. At first (when they turned 2) we were unable to reach the pedals, but by the summer, they were cruising around on them. We got them from another TS mom when her twins outgrew them, which was perfect for us!! :D

Should I get one for this Summer? The twins will be 21 months old by June. We already test out at TRU store w/kettlers. I thought I saw the price in $40 dollars range? I may have to re-check again. I have tall twins at 30-32 inches at 15 mos check-up (they can reach the pedals) but one tiny problem is I wish they had velco strap to hold their shoes onto the pedal (or slip in) so they won't have their foot keep falling out.

The bottom line is -- should we go get one or wait until next year?

Diana w/Rianna and Justin (almost 18 mos on March 30th, maybe I should wait until I see what height they will be in?)

We got our girls Kettlers with bells and buckeds in the back (no push bar) for their 2nd birthday. They loved them. It took about a month for K + R to figure out the paddling and steering. We spent about $79 a trike.

We have a similar version of those Radio Flyers. They do tip easily, but once your kids get the hang of riding them, they should be fine. We did not use ours for very long though since the trikes are pretty small. My kids are pretty tall and were ready for bikes a few months before they turned three.

Those are the same ones my guys had, but they were red. They LOVED them and worked well for us. They learned to pedal them pretty quick. We switched them over to 12 inch bikes already with training wheels.

We have the classic red ones. They got them at 18 months and would push around on their toes, but not use the pedals. I would say in the last few months they have just gotten the pedals and can really go. Drew still will move with his feet because he is faster, but he CAN pedal! :D

We personally choose to pass on the tricyles. I talked my friends with kids and they all said they didnt last to long. We went ahead a bought them small bikes with training wheels. They did great on these at their 2nd birthday and by spring/summer we should have no problem:)

    Good Luck

I have to disagree with the PP. My boys got their Kettlers for their 2nd birthday and used them until their 4th birthday. Then they got 16" bike with training wheels. Now, at almost 6, Jon is ready to move to a 20"--he can ride the 2 wheeler, and Marcus is still fine on the 16" bike. So, although we may have spent a bit more on the bikes and trykes, they have definately gotten use out of them. Also, we sold the trikes to neighbors, and they still look like new!

We bought the Schwinn roadsters for my duo as well, although they are not officially getting them until Wednesday, so we have not tried them out yet. I got them at Costco for $59.99, and there happened to be just 3 left and I grabbed 2. So when I went back with the girls to have them try them out they were all gone.

I was looking for something low to the ground that could be ridden in the grass.
