I won't go into all the details of the last two weeks, but in a nutshell, both boys contracted herpetic lesions , James got strep and Stuart had a lesion turn bacterial on/in his finger for which we were in the hospital all weekend........WAY too much going on!!!!!

Anyhoo, we are home now and both boys are recovering well, but we have to give Stuart the antibiotic by mouth that he was getting by IV in the hospital......he spits it out, chokes, gags and I am doubtful he is getting a full dose (3 times at home so far)

Any tricks?????? I can't seem to get anything to disguise the flavor....we had the pharmacist add flavor added b/c this med tastes so bad......the pedi hasn't called back yet......a co-worker says to pinch his nose and he will have to swallow ?!?!?! that seems so mean and he has been through so much.

    any advice is appreciated. Thanks

Are you using a medicine dropper ?? THen you can squirt it down his throat and he can't object too much. The pharmacy should sell or give you a free one.

We are having this problem too. We have been mixing it into her morning applesauce, both the applesauce and the antibiotic are berry flavor.

Yes, we have that plastic injector thingy.......normally it helps, but either this is too much medicine or whatever.....so frustrating!

yes! josh was horrid at taking liquid meds by mouth. until an ER nurse showed us a great way. not fun for them but it gets the job done. pinch their cheeks and squirt the meds in slowly. with t heir cheeks pinched gently like a fish they cannot spit the meds back out. it used to take dh and i both to hold josh down to get the meds in. he hated it at the time but was over it in mins too. now he does much better.

    HTh and good luck

Is it possible they would take a chewable?

My girls hate and despise liquid medicine, like yours, but think chewable medicine and vitamins are "candy". :)

I would try mixing it in with some applesauce or yogurt. My kids are weird and love taking medicine.
