This will be our first attempt at trick or treating, and I'm a bit nervous. My b/g twins are just over 2, and DD is terrified of strangers (though, DS is quite brave). Did any of you take your 2yo's trick or treating? If so, how many houses did you do? We're in an odd neighborhood, so we would pobably have to drive them someplace to go out (in the rain, btw). What would you do?

Thanks for any and all suggestions!!!

This will be the first year our twins will go trick-or-treating. We plan to hit maybe half a dozen houses, and then I'll bring them home while DH stays out with our eldest.

I would just try a few and see how she does -- maybe hold her and ring the doorbell, if you have to?

Do any of the malls in your area have trick or treating? We're going to go, and plan on 6-8 houses, and if it goes well more, if not, no more than those.

This is our third year trick or treating. We live in a trick or treat bonanza of a neighborhood. We just walk up one side of the street, and then when we get to the end, we walk down the other side (about 30 houses). The girls walk beside us until we get to the house and then they usually go up to the porch by themselves. Sarah and Allison didn't like strangers either, but the smell of candy dulls the senses to strangers I do believe, they were so glad to be getting suckers and chocolate that they practically ran to every house.

I took mine trick or treating when they were just over 1.5 years old. I took the wagon and they would get out at each house, but they did decide to walk for a few houses too. We actually made it all the way around the block which is about 60-70 houses. Last year at 2.5 years old I did not take the wagon at all, they just wanted to walk.

Good luck, they will love it.

This is our first year trick or treating, too. My DD is not to fond of strangers either. It will be interesting to see how she does. Luckily, we are going with family. So, the 2 older cousins can show them the ropes. I am thinking once they start getting candy in their pumpkin buckets they will get quite into it. Who knows though?? :unknw: We will be trunk or treating at a couple of churches and then will possibly hit a few houses....it just depends on how well they are doing at that point.

Good Luck! Hope you guys have a fun & safe time!!

My girls were 25 months last year and we took them to the mall. Less scary for them. :good:

Last year my girls were just 2, and we went Trick or Treating to our few neighbors around us. Then we went trunk or treating at our church. They didn't get it too much, but loved eating the candy. I'd just try it out and if they don't like it wait till next year. My girls loved going TorTing last night. Our town has Beggar's night the night before Halloween, so that's why we went last year. Anyway, the girls loved every bit of it! They were very happy to be dressed up and getting the candy.

Thank you so much for the advice. We ended up just going around our block. We took a break in the middle to stop and grab dinner as well. They had a blast! After the first couple houses, DD stopped, looked at us and said "I have fun." It was too cute! She was done pretty early on, though. DS couldn't get enough!! As we were heading home, he kept pointing to houses and asking to go to "this one." It was a fantastic night. I'm so glad you all convinced me to have the courage to go through with it!!!
