Treats for 2.5-year-olds?

As I've just posted in response to a couple of other threads, we are completely stalled out on PT. It's been months since both girls figured out how to go on the potty (pee -- I don't even care about poop right now), but neither of them seems to have any interest in staying dry.

There's not much point (IMO) in giving them treats for peeing on the potty, since they are doing that already. Would it help to give them a treat for each dry diaper? Are they old enough to understand that? I know they know the difference between wet and dry diapers, since they'll announce (when I take their diapers off) whether they are wet or dry. And they get lots of praise for having dry ones, and seem very proud of themselves, but it doesn't happen often.

Has anyone had great success with using treats at this age? Conversely, has anyone tried treats and regretted it?

We've been doing treats and that seems to work OK. We've had better luck with stickers. I bought a big posterboard that I drew a line down the middle. I put Aidan's name on one side and Amanda's on the other. They got to color their sides and pick out stickers. That encouraged them to go potty much more often. The big thing with us is actually reminding them to go. I saw a watch in the One Step Ahead http://www.onestepahead.com/catalog/produc...cmSource=Search that I'd really love to buy them. It has a timer that you set for 30, 60 or 90 minutes and it reminds them to go potty. It is only $11 each so I might try that next.

I'm excited to hear what others have to say.

Treats really worked for me... I started big and then slowly decreased what and when. It was very effective but my son was obsessed with trains so we used that to our advantage.
